Go home.

I don't think anyone picked Omark to win the Calder
http://www.hockeybuzz.com...-Win-The-Calder/187/62351

But to be honest I don't think he will.

I know you are just trolling but are you saying you wouldn't want JG, SB, or SM in your organization? Because you got rid of all those oilers players.

- tmurph

It's called being sarcastic to the troll that always trolls you. I guess you can't pick up on it like the other regulars.

Can you find a post where I was in the Calgary boards and actually took a shot at the team? Outside of something about issues that you might run into during a rebuild/retool/whatever the (frank) they call it this year?

I think this camp will be the most competitive we have seen in a long time. With the deals they signed on "veteran" players and those invited it'll put some serious pressure on the young guys to step up their game. I think we will absolutely blow this year despite the usual, 'we want to remain competitive' speel from Flames management. Its a chance to rotate some players through and work hard. I have zero expectations but I think Hartley won't allow the level of play to drop...
Similar to last year in both points, effort and the players rotating through... JG, Bennett will start in the A, it will be up to them whether its a short term or full year assignment...

I wouldn't compare Cervenka to Baertschi. Sven played jr. in NA started his pro career in NA and is a top draft pick. Roman was not and did none of those things. Sven has shown he cN play in the NHL. Our management is just looking for him to correct some things to make him a model of the Calgary Flames type player.

Not sure how you see all these guys being able to have bench spots. I'm being optimistic in saying Bennett is skilled enough and will develop enough chemistry with JG to make the team. That being said, my projected lineup is as follows:

Glencross - Backlund - Hudler
Raymond - Monahan - Colborne
Gaudreau - Bennett - Setoguchi
Bollig - Stajan - Bouma

Giordano - Brodie
Russell - Smid
Wotherspoon - Wideman
Engelland

This leaves out Mcgrattan, Byron, Reinhart, Van Brabant, Agostino, Poirer, Granlund, Knight, Klimchuk, Baertschi, Brookbank, Diaz, Seiloff, Cundari, Kanzig.

Considering the competition for a roster spot - anything is possible, but I do believe that the best team will be on the ice come puck drop and considering how many of these players have had a taste of the NHL, they will be lickin' their chops to get a spot, you can bet your ass the Flames will have a formidable and competetive roster come October. I'm just not sure all the players you mentioned will get a shot on the bench (injuries pending of course). I don't see room for Baertschi since he's a LW and I can see Knight/Reinhart/Granlund giving Bennett a run for his money for a roster spot but that's about it. If that does occur, I see Stajan moving up from the 4th to the 3rd to play with JG, and Granlund/Reinhart/Knight manning the 4th line center responsibilities.

Thoughts?

Bennett won't make this team .... Monahan was a unique situation and if I'm not mistaken he was helped, along with his stellar play , by injuries up front that allowed him to stay. I am in no rush to have Bennett here ...I'd rather see Poirier given a decent look and baertchi maybe allowed to make more than one mistake before being sat and demoted... I feel with the emergence of Monahan all eyes will be on him and Johnny hockey will garner a lot of attention ...maybe Sven doesn't feel the pressure he had earlier in his career and can fly under the radar

Lol. Well my opinion is that the Oiler do better this year but still miss the playoffs. But next year they will make the playoffs.

I also think that the flames are two - three years out. Maybe in two years we will see a first round wild card series between the flames and oilers..... the dream

It because every oiler fan on here is expecting the flames to be just as bad as the oilers were for years after their rebuild started ...the truth is the flames youth was not handed everything on a silver platter and aren't a bunch of primadonnas ....there is a chance that the flames could repeat what the oilers rebuild accomplished ...but there is also a greater chance they turn a corner sooner ...and that thought pisses every oiler fan off

Or in Europe

I actually think it would be great for him to go play in the swedish elite league for a season. He would play against bigger more skilled players than the CHL.

I know that will never happen.

One thing is that the KHL is not nearly as good as the NHL. However, I would say it is closer to the AHL. It would be really neat if they had a tourny with some of the best teams from the AHL and KHL.

Bennett will go back to Jr. There is absolutely 0 reason to keep him beyond 9 games. Bouma i think will C the 4th line. Possibly Byron. For the D, i expect Wideman to rebound. J would rather he and Smid and move Russell to 3rd pair with Englland or Diaz or Brookbank.

Nah. I'm thinking something like Marchand and then a couple of all those secondary pieces that Boston seems to always have.
- Lahey

marchand to calgary? no way. you dont want that kind of player in a young flames dressing room.

I could see gio being a pick up for a team like col, if they are playoff bound. flames would probably get a better return from a team like that then say bos. Not to mention flames dont want to mingle with that mess of a team. Hehe as a habs fan i want to see them stay maxed to the cap and being a fan of gio, dont want to play against him either.

sooo happy to see diaz in calgary, he really has alot of upside. Excellent vision and a smooth operator on the 2nd pp. i think you give him time to settle and to adapt to his surrounding in calagry, hell put up points on the pp.

Signing Setoguchi to a nothing contract can't be compared to trading for Marchand

If you trade for Marchand you can't just cut him ...especially if he was part of a big trade

Seto might only play a handful of games and that would be fine ...no risk if his poor attitude and work ethic become an issue
