And thats where I came in saying the coach doesnt get to demand that his boss do something. And that Nonis can see for himself a position needs to be upgraded.. - jbold

Tavares had 81 points the season his contract was up. Before? Had over 50 and 60 his first 2 seasons.
He only makes 5.5 million.
He was already a star. And a first line center.
Johanssen is a lot different. He's demanding big money without actually putting up the points and the play that demands it - jbold
Tavares was coming off a 67 point season when he signed that deal. The only dramatic difference is that he was a first overall pick with a higher chance of reaching his potential. |

wasnt he coming off of a 81 point season?
11'-12' season is the season he had with the 81 point season. Thought he signed his contract after that season. |

Here's exactly what you said.
' i blame randy for not making adjustments or forcing nonis to make moves so he could make the adjustments.' - jbold
then the coach sits the player, which the GM considers an asset, until the GM does trade him
if a coach wants a player gone.. the GM is going to see what they can do
its naive as (frank) to think otherwise |

My prediction for the leafs this year is that Bibeau steals the starting goalie job and leads them thru a deep playoff run. Thinking a big year coming for clarkson as well. Probably 50 points |

You honestly think the coach will force a GM to trade a player?
Come on, look how many coaches were fired for doing what you said..
Its naive to think a GM will trade a player just because a coach doesnt like him.

With how low those 6 and 8 year offers are yeah, looks like it. They are really far off what he's probably looking for long term.
What would a big young center with 70+ point potential get on the open market long-term? $7M per? |

Did Carlyle force Nonis to trade Gardiner when he sat him?
What about forcing him to get an acceptable 4th line?
Most of you on here said that Nonis told Carlyle to play Gardiner.. |
