I'm feeling rather bloated since I beat up Woderwick and ate 50 wings and a hot, blue cheese, large white pizza.

A long long time ago, in a galaxy far away...

There was a writer for Leafs Hot Stove - kid was from England. I guess he was watching games on a bad computer feed.

I guess he decided that if he couldn't really add anything in the hockey analytics department, he would become a famous hockey writer by wowing us with his superior writing. IIRC, he had just graduated from university with a degree in science fiction writing - I never knew there was such a thing.

Anyhoo, his columns were painful.

I tried giving him some professional communications advice, but alas, he was 22 years old, so he already knew everything there was to know about how the universe worked.

It was so effing bad, it was comical. I passed along one blog to a friend who taught a clear writing course - she thought I had written the thing for a cheap laugh. I had to show her the website so that she would believe me that somebody had actually written the giant piece of turd, and he was being serious.

Ah, memories.

Yes, I know blue cheese and hot were the flavours for the wings but I want it on my pizza dammit!!!

...if you're an idiot, sure. If you understand hockey, it was easy to make out it was an explanation of why strong even strength play helps you win, and why teams with more equal ice time allocations tend to perform better.

It was a very coherent argument for socialism on ice...

Sure , some will make it, but maybe 3 or 4 guys from each team. I don't get too fussed about who wins including pre-season games with the big club until they start counting points in the standings.

But that's just me, if other people care then good for them.
