I dont care to get into it, but the way hockey works is like this:

gm
coach
players
fans

the gm makes the team
the coach makes the game plan/play style with the players the gm gives him
the players play their best game according to the coaches game plan
the fans cheer on the players and chirp them accordingly - which goes hand in hand with the coaching staff

therefore, everyone is to blame. the end.

- Lucas Neilson

Well, according to you about 10 pages ago, the coach tells the GM what to do and tells him to make a trade. ...

And this way of thinking is outdated now a days.

The coach has more influence on a team now a days. The GM signs players who will compliment the coaches system.

Not the other way around. Its rare to find a coach who will make up a completely new system for the players he has. The GM will find players who compliment his system.

Exactly what Nashville did when Lavy was hired.

Sucking?
- Pecafan Fan

No, David Clarkson was the league leader in that.

Legwand played 83 regular season games last year.

Which actually lowered his Suckwick stats (level of suckitude/games played).

if you sincerely believe that the coach and GM dont talk about who they want to add to the team then i sincerely think you dont understand the basic mechanics of how a team works. any team for that matter.

And just to poke fun at you. You're the one who said a coach tells a GM to MAKE a trade. So why turn around and say "GM is the one who builds the team with players".... when really, the coach is a big part of that?

i did 100% say that the coach will tell the GM that he thinks a certain void/position needs to be filled. I also think they discuss between one another which player(s) they have in mind, etc.

and i stand behind it.

Tavares had 81 points the season his contract was up. Before? Had over 50 and 60 his first 2 seasons.

He only makes 5.5 million.

He was already a star. And a first line center.

Johanssen is a lot different. He's demanding big money without actually putting up the points and the play that demands it

Yeah, but Tavares signed it knowing he was due for a huge pay raise in Toronto.

That's the standard for being dumb and signing a long term deal at a cap hit that is way lower than it should be based on your potential.

No no no. Stop trying to change what you said.

You said the coach is to blame for not telling Nonis to make a trade...

And thats where I came in saying the coach doesnt get to demand that his boss do something. And that Nonis can see for himself a position needs to be upgraded..

Here's exactly what you said.

' i blame randy for not making adjustments or forcing nonis to make moves so he could make the adjustments.'
