The whole thing is about usage/deployment
And how Gazdic is arguably the worst player in the NHL. I'd listen to arguments for John Scott, Shawn Thornton and Tanner Glass though. - DTF69
Yeah, I know that bit, it was that other part I'm not sure I understand. Could you go over it one more time? |

Here's the thing with Yakupov. He's a shooter. Almost as pure shooter as you'll find. He's really good at shooting the puck.
So why isn't he put in a position to do so? Like the powerplay? Where the Oiler's only real shooting threat is Taylor Hall? And even Hall isn't what you'd call a "shooter"
That's the frustrating thing. It's apparent to anyone who has seen him play that he has tremendous talent and the ability to rifle a puck like few others in the league by barely snapping his wrists. So why not have him in a spot to succeed?
Is playing with Gordon really the playmaking centre he needs? Is stapling him to the bench for a missed assignment on a forward corps of assignment-misser's really the best way to develop him? Is giving, arguably, the worst player in the NHL Luke Gazdic throwaway shifts with star players a better idea than Yakupov? The answer is no.
Eakin's has to find a way to alter his deployment and usage like Krueger did. Maybe Eakin's has to spend 2 weeks watching video of Yakupov to find out where he lines up best, like Darryl Sutter did to rejuvinate Marion Gaborik. Yakupov has to find a way to make sure his mistakes aren't as glaring.
If I have to listen to another knuckle dragging slurper from the media use code words for "Russian" all season I'm going to burn Rexall to the ground. - DTF69
Can you mail this into MacT/Eakins?
Yak needs a vet C with some offence so he can run wild and light up the scoreboard. 2010 Horcoff might have been pretty useful
Best EDM can do really is maybe Arcobello-Purcell which really will not maximize his return, but I could see them with some chemistry n doin damage |

No, they're butt heads.
Pouliot-Arcobello-Yakupov sounds like a better bet to me. Perron-LEON!-Purcell.
Also, why did stats.hockeyanalysis get taken down? I have no more places to look at fancy stats. |

Seem like smart guys but sometimes my god
Haven't seen enough of Pouliot. I know Purcell's more of a pass-first kind of guy so if he's feeding Yak like he was feeding Stamkos, I could see that working out. I feel like Pouliot-Drai-Perron would be a female dog to play against
Is it? sh*t. I'm still mourning the loss os extra skater. Haven't really looked at any numbers much since the season ended (in EDM's case november) |

(frank) Struds knocked it out of the park yesterday with regards to captains. First he said media and fans buy way too much into it. He seemed kinda sick of fans and media pretending they know what goes on. He even put gregor in his spot yesterday.
Secondly he talked about how Ference was the perfect choice for the captain of this team, but now questions it only because of the relation he developed with Eakins. He did however say with guys like Pouilot, Fayne and Niktin coming in from the East that if Ference doesn't do his job that these guys will step up and make Eakins know that he needs to step back. |

Becuase Eakins is a (frank)ing idiot and for some reason he has a problem with Yakupov. It's almost like he's intentially putting him in a position to fail and i don't understand it, maybe he (frank)ed his wife? maybe his wife mentioned he was cute and he got jealous? i don't know, either wy, Eakins is (frank)ing ruining Yakupov, and it pisses me off how so many of the fan base are jumping down Yakupovs throat for Eakins short comings and idiocy

People expected too much out of him as a player. He was a #6 who stood up for his teammates, played tough and was good on the PK. Just feel into the same situation as a lot of others. Not enough better players ahead of him so he had to play more than he should of at times. |

So he wants yaks to fail and lose games?
Cmon. Even the facetiousness of the comment doesnt make it any less ridiculous.
There's certainly something to be said about better deployment, but lets not take all the onus off yaks. He was ineffective to the point of liability way too often. Imo, this is certainly not all eakins fault |
