As far as projection goes, he might be, but he is very raw. From what I saw at the World Junior Evaluation, he is a great skater with good puck moving ability and offensive instincts, but his stick positioning, shot accuracy, defensive reads, and strength around the net could use work.

Oh, sure, he's not going to step in right away, but in the long run, he's the guy I'm most excited about.

Every Flyers fan remembers where they were when they found out the Flyers traded for Luke Schenn.

Yeah, it's a toss up with me between Morin and Sanheim for who I'm most excited about. Something about 6'7 225+ with a mean streak, big shot and decent wheels just says wow!

Oh yeah, Morin is second for me. I just think Sanheim is going to be really good.

I think Sanheim may well be the best NHLer out of the group. Nobody talks much about him, but he's smooth skating, smart and has good size. Just needs to add some muscle and weight and he could be a damned good all situations defenseman who you can plug in and get 25 minutes a night out of
- Jsaquella

Maybe Ryan Suter is a good comparable. If he ends up as a Suter-type dman, I'd be thrilled. I'll confess now that I thought the pick was a little bit of a reach at the time. I'll happily eat some tasty crow if he continues developing at this pace.

I absolutely hated the Morin draft pick at the time, mainly because of where they picked him and I saw him as being more of a defensive dman and at the time I thought they really needed a more offensive, puck moving dman. At the time it was said that he could develop Pronger's offensive capabilities. Now that seems like a bit of a stretch.

I still have some doubts about Morin. But Ghost really blossoming and now the pick of Sanheim give them 2 strong skaters, and Hagg could be a good 2-way guy. Now it makes much more sense to have a mean, physical stay at home guy like Morin, and even Luke Schenn (assuming he is still here when these guys make the show).

Morin may not justify the 11th pick in the draft, but he could be a huge part of a really good D in 3-4 years. Like Sanheim, I'd be happy to be "wrong".

Still don't think Morin = Pronger, but if he is paired with Ghost or Sanheim that could be one heck of a #1 unit.

While Hagg's intensity is sometimes called into question, I think he is probably the best prepared mentally of the Flyer's defensive prospects to play with the big club. He has poise that most players his age do not.

i hesitate to judge a player on their personality... i'll wait until i see him play

oh wait that's no good either anymore i'll wait to read his corsi and wowee

I was 100% set on Ristolainen and didn't know much about Morin so I didn't like the pick at the time. But with our other D prospects I'm glad we took him ahead of guys like Pulock, Morrissey and Mueller. And I think he's a better long term prospect than Zadorov whose skating didn't impress me at all at the Memorial Cup.

For me, as of today, it would be
1) Ghost-his skills just leap out, not sure how he will end up doing in his own end, but at absolute worst case, he'll be a 3rd pair guy who can QB the top pp unit.

2) Morin- You can't coach size and I love the mean streak. Add to that a good, hard shot and decent wheels, and you have #1 dman potential

3) Sanheim- Can't wait to see this guy once he fills out. Could be our next Eric Desjardins.

4) Hagg- Nice total package of size and skills, but not sure if he has the inner drive to ever be more than an average 2nd pair guy

5) Alt-Probably the most NHL ready of all of our D prospects. IMO, he will definitely be an NHL player, the question is can he be a top 4 guy?

6) Friedman-Until he puts on some weight and shows that he can compete at the pro level, its hard to put him ahead of any of the other D prospects.

I would put Morin ahead of Hagg and Alt ahead of Friedman. Friedman has more potential, but Alt is much closer to the NHL. I think that factors into the equation.

That's all true, and he probably has the highest absolute ceiling of the bunch... but I'm really worried about his puck skills. He still doesn't execute plays with the degree of precision and consistency necessary to survive/thrive in the show. Hopefully more marinating in the Q and the A will help him develop that, but as of right now, he's still kind of iffy w/ the puck, even in practice situations.
