Since you like to repost the same thing over and over Mr. Tanner I will do the same.Keith Yandle is not getting traded.Mike Smith sucks and is the most overrated and overpaid injury prone goalie in the league. The Coyotes will not make the playoffs and will be sellers well before the trade deadline.Doan(washed up but deserves to play for a contender),Vermette(expiring contract),Michalek (expiring contract)and Hanzal(bust) will be traded.Gagner will still suck and look for Dubnyk to be sent down or cut and Visentin to be pooptys backup.

So Edmonton is going to go from 29 wins last season (tied for second lowest in the league) to playoff bound?!!!

No offense there James, but since the 2008-09 season, the Oil have managed a meager 132 wins in 376 games played. That's a whopping 35% win percentage over a 5 season period.

Granted Edmonton will eventually pull out of the slump they've been mired in for the past 6 or 7 seasons, but your prediction is completely unfounded and based on nothing evident or even tangible to warrant being taking seriously.

I guess maybe you're just playing the odds in that at some point they'll eventually have a break out season, but even still there is really nothing to indicate that it would be this one.

Although something tells me they'll make it back to the playoffs before your beloved Yotes will...

I actually agree with post. Until the Oilers can show improvement (like maybe finishing 10th in the West) no way can I see the playoffs.

Well the talent is certainly there... The real question is WHEN are they going to put everything together and start winning?!

I don't think it CAN'T happen this season, my main point to James was that not enough has changed from last season to think that they are all of a sudden a shoe in to displace one of last years contenders.

You are correct. They are primed for a breakout, but not to the extent of playoffs. In an everything goes right scenario it's possible. Here goes (in no order of importance).

1.Ryan Nugent Hopkins has his breakout 70+ Point season.
2.Scrivens and Fasth provide at least average NHL quality goaltending consistently.
3.Oilers (new) Defense provide unspectacular but competent results.
4.Coaches get the Power Play back on track.
5.New Forwards provide some decent 2-way play to compliment our talent.
6.Yakupov and Schultz get back on track offensively.
7.Draisaitl and Arcobello do not look out of place centering their respective lines and are not liabilities.
8. Injuries are kept to a minimum.

That a lot of poop that has to go right. If more than 1 of those items doesn't happen, we wont make it.
