While there are calls to the police and/or social services far too often for the disciplining of kids, most of them turn into nothing more than an inconvenience and a hassle. Charges usually aren't filed unless it's really extreme because law enforcement doesn't want to deal with the hassle any more than the parent does. That fact that charges were filed tells me that this wasn't an ordinary whack on the ass.

I have to agree here. I have no issue with how people choose to discipline their kids but there is a fine line between discipline and abuse. He definitely crossed it after seeing the pictures.

I never saw the pics but I heard it wasn't good.

I agree that people should be less negative, and I KNOW that once people start focusing on something, perception can become reality whether its accurate or not. So it could be that EJ's reputation for inaccuracy will remain "reality" whether or not the stats back up the perception.

But putting the EJ thing aside, nobody knows how good the Dolphins really are, they have a patchwork LB corps in light of a bunch of injuries, and we had the ball in the red zone three times yesterday and had to settle for field goals. I love that we didn't turn the ball over, but what if that team's two RBs didn't get hurt - would our redzone ineffectiveness have been more problematic?

I'm watching carefully to see what might happen.

I agree that the red zone needs work. I do think however they proved they can hang with a good team in Chicago and put it away when it matters. That type of game we never used to win

An attempt to fade one to the corner of the endzone would have been nice to see. The Bills WRs have been great getting good vert of their catches.

He admitted to it right away before the mother of the child even saw the child . Maybe his act of aggression will prevent his child from harming other children . Nothing is as cut and dry as we would all like to believe . He owned his act as soon as he did it and justified it .

The first two weeks of the season are almost always a crapshoot. There are good teams that play poorly, and bad teams that play pretty well. I just remember 2011 when they came back against New England, and the story Brady and a couple of other Patriots had told. The Bills were excited, but when they were shaking hands, a lot of the Patriots players just laughed at them and said "it's a long season". Brady had even said it in his press conference as well. They turned out to be incredibly prophetic.

Like I said, though, while I agree with the premise of that the frequency of police/government getting involved is getting a little too intrusive, it takes quite a bit for actual charges to get filed in any of these types of cases. That's what people seem to be missing here. The police actually charged Peterson, which is a rarity.

My two cents: Intent will play a big part in AP. I don't think the actual result was the intent of the action. It does not excuse it. My guess is AP has never wielded a switch before. He sure isn't the smartest guy. A guy who thinks he is a modern day slave making millions in the NFL probably didn't realize that switches should never be used on bare skin or on toddlers.

I'm not saying that him disciplining his kid was wrong, he should of in that situation. But if you want to teach your kid not to be violent, beating him until he bleeds is not an effective method.

I was smacked as a kid more than once...and looking back, there's no doubt I deserved it most, if not, every time. However, I never sustained any of the types of injuries that Petersen's child did.

That's not correct either. Child "rearing" has been commonplace up until really the past 20 years or so, when people started to get up in arms. I was smacked as a kid more than once...and looking back, there's no doubt I deserved it most, if not, every time. However, I never sustained any of the types of injuries that Petersen's child did.

Too many statistics back up what hitting a child can (and will) do to that child. Violent behavior, prison, drug use, alcoholism, etc.

I would agree, but the fact remains that there are plenty of teams that look better and worse than they really are in the first couple of weeks. It's why they're also historically the toughest weeks to bet on with the exception of Week 17 when many teams end up resting their starters or playing backups for evaluation purposes.

Kaepernick was uncharacteristically bad last night. You're going to have those every so often. The question becomes "how often?".

That being said, I said two years ago that Kaepernick peaked too early.

I had Kaepernick as my fantasy QB last year, and I feel like he had these types of games more frequently than the W-L column would indicate. Usually his defense is able to bail him out. Not so much yesterday.

Personality wise, I'm the polar opposite of my sister, so that made things a bit easier. She barely passed classes in school and I was an honors student. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
