The Vanilla Ice show?
- tangent_man

Is it Vanilla Ice? I can't even tell. Why did he call himself 'Vanilla Ice' anyway? I know it's because he's white, but it isn't very intimidating.

Looks like Shady to me, telling everyone to 'Lose Yourself'.

I believe he used Vanilla Ice because 'Cool White' was taken.

I have no prob with Laughton starting the season as the "4th line" center. To me, the designations of the lines are meaningless, the only thing that matters is ice time. Couturier and Giroux will get the lion share of ice time at center no matter what. My guess is that when the Flyers are playing from behind, VLC will get the 3rd most time. Conversely, when playing with a lead, Laughton will get the 3rd most time.

Either way, I can see Laughton, depending on how the game goes, getting anywhere from 7-12 minutes at ES and another 1-2 on the PK. This would bring him to somewhere from 8-14 minutes per game which is fine with me.

Great perspective on Laughton, Bill. But Pannoch has already spoken and declared it now or never for the kid

I think Laughton will start in the AHL. As it stands now we have 9 nhl locks. I think Rinaldo is also a lock on 4th line to begin the year as the club seems to love him and will give him one more chance to make a impression. Other then getting suspended I don't see how he loses the job in the preseason. He will be on his best behaviour and will prob not be the only tough guy on the ice therefore won't get baited into fighting or running a guy.

That leaves two more spots. I personally think Akeson not only makes the team but plays a impact role on the third line. That leaves the last spot between Laughton and the unknown PEB. This is the only real position battle on the team and it should be interesting. PEB is really hyped, and many have referred to him as a Raffl with scoring. I think he will start the year with the flyers so they can judge his potentional and at the same time see what rinaldo shows up. By Xmas (15 more Fridays) the following questions should be answered

-is schenn gaining any chemistry on first line, or does anyone else deserve a shot
-is Akeson consistent enough offensively and defensively to keep around
-is rinaldo the meathead from 2013/14
-can PEB adjust to NA ice and does he have any flash

OK so Giroux turns 27 this season and Voracek 26. Mason's the right age and the Schenns and Simmonds will still be young - turning into their primes as the likes of Ghost/Morin enter and get a couple years under their belts. So we're looking at a possible cup in 3-4 years when Giroux is 30-31 years old.

Even worse, Randy Miller is back and is already trying to stir poop up with Snider's comments.

Is he still at NJ.com, just covering the Flyers? I was hoping he would take a backseat somewhere.

Yeah, per his twitter he is back with NJ.com to cover the Flyers this year. I'm almost tempted to get into hockey writing as it appears you can just half-ass your way into a steady job with a journalism degree. I'm just assuming these guys have degrees btw. It really would not surprise me in the slightest if they didn't.
