That defense will be ugly, no way around it but I enjoy giving the kids a bigger role on offense. One slight adjustment I hope Berube makes it ensuring Giroux's line gets the most minutes. As he goes, the team goes. Happened far too often at the end of the season, and playoffs that Couturier and Read were getting top minutes.

The pendulum cannot swing too far D-first, you play to win as a priority, not shut down the other team.

Doing so would also allow Couturier some more favourable match ups instead of going head to head with the other team's best and Giroux sitting on the bench with Voracek.

Will be fun to see the youth grow.

I disagree that the defense will be ugly, and there is no way around it. The Flyers have a solid defense.

Just a tiny bit dirty

I truly believe we are going to get that "22 minute a night on the third best defensive team in hockey" Del Zotto.

Confidence is a fickle thing. And reading about what happened to him under AV, I fully understand how it went down. A new coach showed little confidence in him after a slow start and held him as the scapegoat for all the team's defensive problems. Its like being coached by a Flyers fan.


We all know Del Zotto can play. Its not like he is an old guy trying to regain some old glory. He is a young guy, with plus skill, who has something to prove. He is going to be good, you watch.

Staal, Girardi and McDonough. Enough said. I have no doubt that Alain Vigneault probably kept Del Zotto at way too high a standard. I wouldn't doubt that Del Zotto was handled poorly. It wasn't long ago that John Tortorella was singing Del Zotto's praises on HBO. So what changed? Nashville isn't exactly a juggernaut. I don't see how he was gonna get better there. As great as Weber is, he can only do so much to turn them around.

And now, for no reason whatsoever cept it makes me laugh, here is a message from the late, great George Carlin:
