You guys see this yet? http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=461527

"As for penalties, two offences of clipping, charging, elbowing, interference, kneeing, head-butting or butt-ending with the stick will lead to a game misconduct. Tripping is also clarified to be a penalty if a player dives with his body, arm or shoulder to interfere with an opponent, even if he gets to the puck first."

What the hell is this? You get two interference penalties and you get a game misconduct? Who (frank)ing though up this garbage? I guess that means that if you get a neutral zone interference call, and a goaltender interference call, you're out of the game?

I'm also not sure I really like the "even if he gets to the puck first" tripping call. A player should be allowed to make a play on the puck.

I agree with you on the interference call.

However the tripping one...I never really got that. Sure you got the puck first...but you still tripped a guy. At the very least if the puck is gone, you interfered with him.

Not sure I understand the relevance of a yellow card here.

I see your point on the tripping. We can agree to disagree on that.

But the "any two" of the laundry list of penalties is odd. I get the others, like kneeing, headbutting, etc., but interference?

In most tournaments, the accumulation of a certain number of yellow cards over several matches results in disqualification of the offending player for a certain number of subsequent matches, the exact number of cards and matches varying by jurisdiction.
