What day does camp open? I may visit an open practice in Syosset, if they allow.

Maybe it's time to change things? Even the draft has very little trades of note happening.
- ses111

Change what? Teams should be forced to appease fans by making trades just for the sake of making them?

The entertainment is on the ice. The ancillary events such as the draft, free agency and roster movement are the business side of things. You can't force management to make them entertaining for fans. They owe it to you to ice the best team that they can afford/put together, making stupid roster moves just to make things "exciting" doesn't help that.

Dan Petriw: Sound Tigers Preview with Phil Giubileo
- Dan Petriw

From TSN:

Arrests have been made in connection with the 2011 death of NHL forward Derek Boogaard.

The Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office announced Tuesday that Jordan Hart, the son of former New York Islander Gerry Hart, was arrested on Long Island on Tuesday morning by the Drug Enforcement Administration's New York task force while physician's assistant Oscar Johnson was arrested in Utah.

According to the office's release, Hart supplied Boogaard with prescription pain killers that killed him, while Johnson is accused of writing bogus Percocet prescriptions for Hart on a near-monthly basis over two years.

They're over in Dee's blog insulting her and complaining about removed posts. Real stand up guys.

Dan should take a lesson from Dee and talk about the real hard hitting topics on Long Island. Such as:

What is going to happen to the Isles Team Store in the Coliseum?
Why is Brooklyn so scary yet so expensive for suburbanites?

I don't live in Long Island and I like Brooklyn... I'm not qualified to tackle those topics

Who said anything about making stupid trades? There should be enough teams with a match to make a trade. There are teams like San Jose that cannot get over the top that should be looking to change the mix. You have teams like the Preds that should have extra D that need offense or maybe Phoenix as well.

Butch is (frank)ing awesome. I watch Islanders games just to hear him try to talk coherently and come up with new last names for players. He's like the funny hammered drunk uncle.

He's not like the funny hammered drunk uncle, he is that exact person.

How many trades do you see involving quality players anymore that aren't made because of some sort of outside circumstance? It's pretty rare. Teams aren't trading away their futures for immediate help anymore, it's a dead practice in the salary cap era. Frankly, I think it's a good mentality. It may not be exciting but it's better for teams in the long run.

I like to think trades are still a big part in helping teams get over the top like the Kings. I think blockbusters are hard to come by now days. I think the Cap and no trade clauses have really hurt trades. At the end of the day, if the Isles can get where they want to go without trades than fine. Do not mind me I always liked trades in all sports.

He is an Islander gem that should be given a contract for the rest of his life.

Funny because Chico from the Devils was somewhat similar, but I would mute my tv if he was on a broadcast. He was like the drunk ex-girlfriend you want to throw in a wood chipper.

I can see it being funny for an outsider but when you have to listen to it nearly 82 games a year it makes you want to put your face through a plate glass window.

I like seeing trades too, I just can accept the fact that they're now going to be few, far-between, and more-than-likely somewhat insignificant.

Without Butchie though the isles drinking game would not be as much fun. Speaking of that with Peter gone and some roster movement. We need like 12 new rules.. The first month of the season should help is with that

I'll have to get use to it. I'd like to think the Isles will be active at the trade deadline this year. Hopefully it will be to improve their playoff position.

So I still haven’t watched the espn 30 for 30 “big shot” the spano story, so going to watch that tonight. That should get me good and pissed off for the start of training camp
