Sure, but also look at Peyton Manning. He and the Colts were awful his first year. He turned out fine.

imo, they have a lot of talent on offense and defense...one thing they have this season that they didn't last--save for the o-line--is depth...it's probably what got them the win yesterday
- Michael Pachla

Corey Graham had a hell of a game yesterday. I would name him the MVP of the game.

And lots of bad ones did not.

We sat Losman, didn't change how his career turned out.

Me personally, I don't buy that Chad Henne playing over Blake Bortles is better for anyone else but the offensive coordinator.

Fair enough, but Losman was. And us sitting him didn't change the fact he was a bust.

Ryan Tannehill was said to need 2-3 years before he should play, yet he's started from day 1 and has gotten better each year so far.

He did, I barley remember seeing him in preseason. Don't discount what the kickers did. The punter Schmidt was great and Dan Carpenters Mullet was on point.

You are totally discounting the change of the speed of the game from one level to the next . Lots of great quarterbacks started the pros holding the clipboard . And if interviewed after their career , they would tell you they are thankful they did . This instant gratification many sports fans think they deserve is totally irrational unless that player is a generational type talent.

For those who play the NHL video game franchise I heard some really bad things about NHL15. Very disappointing. Anyone else hear anything?

The game modes have been stripped down to the point where they are unplayable. No user drafting, no be a pro, still some awkward gameplay and doc emerick commentary is monotonous.

EA ruined Football now hockey. (frank) EA! The message for me is I guess don't play video games if for the big money we spend these companies cant be bothered making a good product. Time to bust out that 8 bit Nintendo!

I'm not discounting anything. How exactly does sitting on the bench help you adjust to the speed of the game? You adjust by playing

disagree...especially if those lumps come from getting beat up on a bad team...take a look at the career of Cleveland's tim couch...

let the journeyman take the lumps while the rookie learns the game

- Michael Pachla

If a player has "it", he'll figure it out, lumps and all. It might take longer to "get it" in a worse situation, but it seems that if a player is meant to be great, he eventually figures it out. If you have to say "he might have been good if he played here or under this coach or that coach", he probably wasn't good enough to begin with.

Watching and studying the play . Talking over things with coaches . You can learn a lot sitting and observing . It certainly did not hurt Tom Brady , Joe Montana , Steve Young and the list goes on and on . And when he was called on . He was ready and did not miss a beat. This trial by fire mentality is utter nonsense.

Buying a console for a sports game is risky, although it was worth it last time. Waiting till February to get mine, Arkham Knight looks incredible.

The difference gap in difference "speed of the game" between college and the NFL isn't what it once was. In today's day and age of pro style offenses in college, high-end weight training, and the simple fact that college kids are simply bigger and faster through nutrition, genetics, etc. makes the adjustment a lot less extreme than it used to be. That's not to say that there aren't players that can still benefit from sitting the bench and watching, but players as a whole, including quarterbacks, are more capable of stepping in immediately than ever before, in just about every sport.

Who's to say they couldn't have got it done if they had to step in right away out of necessity? Also, both Young and Brady had well established veterans they sat behind, not some journeyman never-was. There is still value in learning behind a great player. The problem is, not every team has one of those at quarterback. In fact, most teams don't.

Not arguing with you but...

i don't think Steve Young had any shot at being a starter at the beginning of his career . Same could pretty much be said for Tom Brady..

But neither of those guys were 1st round draft picks and both were behind established starters 1 a HOF QB the other a pretty good one.

Rodgers too.

And then there's the flip side. Todd Collins spent more than enough time behind Jim Kelly to take the reins by that standard. He was a disaster.

Frank Reich was a much better QB than Todd or Van Pelt
