I think the rangers and penguins won't be as good this year, in Lou of Tampa, of course Boston, Montreal & unfortunately maybe Columbus. I think Jersey will do a bit better this season, which is all we needed last year, but we'll be competing for a spot with NYR, NYI and Philly... But we''re always better off under dogs anyways. Ruutu and Brunner should do way better this year, hopefully career highs but not necessarily saying that much. I think Jersey has a great mix age wise, plenty of vets with experience to bring up the youngsters who just need a little guidance, one way or another. I think the Rangers got lucky at the end of last season, where a few other East Coast teams didn't, this year should be a lot tighter - diofan34
Hey man everyone's entitled to their opinion. Season starts soon so we'll see how it all unfolds. |

Rangerdanger was talking hockey until diofan started making these unwarranted claims of the Rangers "being lucky", stick to the topic and stop being whiny little girls and BTW I'd take Karlsson over Greene 365 days of the year, as Rangerdanger stated his speed makes up for his lack of physicality in the defensive zone, his defensive deficiencies are exaggerated |

Kinda impossible when its everyday and ultimately someone always takes the bait. As far Brunner being moved goes I'd say a 5th rd pick would be enough no one will offer anything significant or even minor for him. |

2008-2009 (1st, 12th, 3rd in scoring)
Green 68GP, 31G, 42A, 73P, +24, 68PIM, 167 SH/TOI
Won-Chara 80GP, 19G, 31A, 50P, +23, 95PIM, 268 SH/TOI
Lidstrom 78GP, 16G, 43A, 59P, +31, 30PIM, 269 SH/TOI
2009-2010 (1st, 2nd, 3rd in scoring)
Green 75 GP, 19G, 57A, 76P, +39, 54PIM, 161 SH/TOI
Doughty 82 GP, 16G, 43A, 59P, +20, 54PIM, 165 SH/TOI
Won-Keith 82GP, 14G, 55A, 69P, +21, 51PIM, 244 SH/TOI
2011-2012 (1st, 3rd, 5th in scoring)
Won-Karlsson 81GP, 19G, 59A, 78P, +16, 42PIM, 45 SH/TOI
Chara 79GP, 12G, 40A, 52P, +33, 86PIM, 214 SH/TOI
Weber 78GP, 19G, 30A, 49P, +21, 46PIM, 176 SH/TOI
I thought this might help show the "flip-flop."
2009
Chara won, but had less points than Green, less +/- than Lidstrom, and more PIM, SH/TOI was close. Lidstrom should of won this because of the difference in PIM between him and Chara.
2010
Keith won, but had less points and +/-. HAd a huge advantage in SH/TOI.
SH/TOI probably made a huge role in him winning this.
2012
Karlsson won, he had the most points, a worse +/- by double, but a huge gap in SH/TOI. - Devils9503
i understand what you mean now. it sort of seemed initially that you were implying that it went to stricitly defensive guys sometimes, and strictly offensive guys other times. in reality the guy who wins it is almost always in the top 3-4 scorers among d-men, however you're right in that it seems sometimes it seems points is what matters most, while sometimes it seems like voters look more at balance.
the norris really is the only award that seems to have to balance two separate aspects of a position......all the other ones are pretty clear cut. |

WAAAYYYYYY better? What a draft pick? They want a top nine guy and since Ott is cheap Brunner would be 2.5. If you want Brunner take Sal, he would be the sixth/7th defender and would allow Ceci/Cowen and others to play more. And you wouldn't get that much better of a option that would provide you with what you want, that being a top nine forward who comes cheap. - Devils9503
Dude...Garrioch says a top 9 but the reality is the SENS are shppoing a top 6.The discussion ends right there. Brunner is a Devil plain and simple. |

Karlsson isn't exactly an elite shutdown defenseman but he gets a lot more poop for being bad defensively than he deserves. His speed and skating are huge assets to him in terms of playing in his own zone. He's actually very serviceable defensively...above average for sure. - rangerdanger94
Yes I agree |

I think that's debatable but with the rangers and devils it's seems to go in periods of 4-7 years where one of them slows down and the other picks up and so on right now you guys have McDonough kreider Stepan Hagelin and frodo. Our guys are starting to make an impact and a few will be 2-3 years away there is usually a 2-3 year period where both teams are good at the same time. I'm just curious if there is a guy in your system to replace Henrik or if you think they will fill that hole via free agency down the road as he still has more then a few years left |
