Gorges didnt want to play for the leafs, because they are a hated rival. It has nothing to do with city, quality of life etc so it's dumb to even think of it like that. There are probably only two teams he would have decline, Toronto and Boston.

So, Toronto had its day no doubt. Now, not so sure. It seems such a disjointed place, say nothing about the absurd price to live there. So, you like it, good for you! Me, not so much. Great place to visit for a couple days..then, got to go...kinda like Las Vegas. You couldn't get me to live there for all the tea in China.
Buffalo, it has seen better days .. But it is bouncing back nicely. We don't need nor want 6m people here...a nice commute to work versus the log-jam up there. We can go to Sabres and Bills games..sell our TO games to die hard Bay Leafs fans who can't see them in there home town, and there you go...it pays a significant portion of watching the other 38 games. Great standard of living versus scraping by...I'll take it. Now Montreal on the other hand

For me, its all about how old you are. Teenagers and young adults could care less about standard of living. They wanna be where all the action is. NBA,NHL,MLB, MLS, every concert that comes to Canada. Meeting celebrities in the streets, festivals every weekend etc.

You hit the nail on the head though about the cost of living there being crazy. Great place to live and enjoy life, but not a great place to save $$$.

First off, I don't live in Edmonton, so STFU, secondly, It's not my opinion that TO is a stinkhole, but perhaps Georges does, and 3rdly, NHL'ers are the absolute greatest pro athletes in the world at not speaking their minds to the media. Stick around a few more years ,kid, and your know this to be true.

Lastly, nahhh, doesn't matter at all. Robidas is a more that good constelation prize, provided his health keeps up.

Also, Edmonton is a wicked city if your into culture, with a vibrant music and Art scene, a top Canadian University, more parkland per capita than any other town in Canada...but yeah, it's (frank)ing cold there for 7 months of the year.
