im not arguing with you, im just pointing out... the point is that the arena has these areas, these are areas that NHL arenas dont have. 70% of the seats are wonderful to see a game, But if the arena was good for hockey the other 30% would be good too.

also, some people like to sit behind the home goal and actually see the game. You cant do that in this building.

Many will cry obstruction with the arena... And you're 100% correct.. Sell it out and changes will be made. Make the playoff and watch how fast those obstruction seat will be filled. And those same fans will be crying that they couldn't get a tix will be watching them at home from un-obstruction seat in front of their TVs

When we went to the game last year at Barclays, we looked up a similar seat to what we had at the coliseum..........I thought the seats were great.

If anyone is going to complain about the scoreboard being off center, to me thats a ridiculous complaint. (Thats to noone in particular, i just recall reading that at some point from fans on here).

I'd be a bit upset if I sat in an obstructed view seat, but odds are anyone on this site who's gonna buy tickets will know to stay away from those seats. They're still a year away from playing there..........perhaps changes will be made this offseason. If they could renovate the garden, why couldn't they renovate the Barclays?

Truth be told, I was just in awe over the cup holders for the entire game.......who cares if you cant see the goalie........your beer is safe and sound in the cup holder.

Yeah Garth messed up last offseason........he made up for it this year. I laughed all last year, how the Isles GM, a former goalie himself, didnt have a true number 1. Heck, even his goalie draft picks aren't really anything to write home about. That said, i've always liked Halak........he'll win a playoff round.

As much as I dislike Charles Wang, if they didn't move to Barclay's it would be Quebec. So you can whine and complain about the arena, or you can realize that for twenty years they've needed a new building. There was ample opportunity to get one built, and it was blocked at every attempt. You get to see your team play by going a little further and they may actually put more into the team when it doesn't mean a larger financial loss. Or, you could go back to the days they sold their stars and played ahl players and continue to be a joke. Get a look at the bigger picture here. You're acting like a child that doesn't understand where money comes from.

Wouldn't it just make sense to look at the seating chart on ticket master and not buy an obstructed view seat? Just as a point of reference for a Canucks home game tickets in the lower bowl are anywhere from 150-300 bucks. When is the last time anyone paid that much for the isles?

I play in a 14-team, 20 player league, but I think due to life and all that poop, the league may be folding. This would be perfect. I just want in to talk poop, to be honest.

Dan when the Devils moved to Newark, no one complained, why? The Prudential Center was built for hockey...great arena, great site lines, amazing building...the Barclay's has as you noted a scoreboard over the blue line, terrible site lines, and most importantly for a family of 4 costs from LI about $100 to get there. The building wasn't built for hockey, rather b-ball. The building is terrible and the joke of all jokes is that scoreboard...a sophomoric management took the team to a joke of a building. If Wang wasn't such a self center man, manager, owner then possibly the original revised Lighthouse would have received Kate Murray's approval...but it was obvious to all of us, the Wang/Murray battle forced the team to move to this joke of a building.
- bhockey47

the prudential center is ok..not great.. and in NEWARK, you have to wear your kevlar jersey their.. is barclays perfect..not in the least.. will it be more expensive?? no doubt. but its the best of all the options available and that includes staying in nassau. this team needs to be profitible

Dan...

The reason you don't hear Devils and Caps fans female dog about their moves is because they moved into PALACES that are on easy transportation hubs near their fanbase. The Islanders moved from one dump to another...YES THE BARCLAY'S CENTER IS A DUMP....FOR HOCKEY. Obstructed view seats...in this day and age???? Are you kidding? They moved into a building that was NEVER designed to have hockey...and it shows. There is NOTHING fan friendly about that arena for hockey. Plus, Islanders fans need to increase their commute and go all the way to Brooklyn...a crap hole with a bunch of Hipster Doffus Kramer Wannabes walking around. Additionally, Isles fans fear the link to Barclays will lead to a change in team colors as they did with the Nets. LAUGHABLY, those at Barclays think that Black and White is the colors of Brooklyn which is why they choose it for the Nets and the next Isles 3rd jersey. The truth is, the Dodgers never wore black...they did wear blue. But their management loves black because they believe the AFrican American population will buy anything black, both pandering and insulting AFrican Americans and creating the crappiest jerseys in the NBA. We already endured the fishstick nonsense. We don't need other people who admit they know nothing about hockey messing with our colors or logo. Finally, I completely agree with you about NVMC. It is a dump. Nassau deserves better. But moving from a dump to an arena that isn't good for hockey and is an inconvenience to get to...not enough of an improvement to merit the move. I'll always support the team, but even a 10 year lease would have been an improvement...then it puts pressure on Nassau to get them back. At 25+ year lease...that was a mistake. All Wang was doing was trying to improve his "Donald Sterling asking price."

way to keep an open mind after one preseason game im convinced a majority of people would rather have a poop team playin in a dumpster fire thats five minutes from their house..

Dan.....are they actually going to be able to move the level of seats that HANG OVER the glass in that one corner? The scoreboard blocks views, THE SEATS THEMSELVES block certain sections view...

Is that somehow going to be changed? No. That is my point. HOw is it that in the 2000's you have obstructed view seats for an arena built in the 2000s?

And btw, I don't want a dumpster fire anywhere. I also don't blame Wang for leaving NVMC but I don't think a +20 year lease was needed. Sign one for 5 and tell NVMC and TOH, "rennovate or we won't come back". The idea that the two signed because of Brooklyn, I don't buy. They've never been there and have never seen the arena. Its even more likely Wang asked them to say it in their pressers.

The arena isn't built for hockey and isn't GOOD for hockey. Keep in mind what happened when the Dodgers wanted to build their own stadium on Flatbush Ave. Robert MOses said "no. You will play in Flushing" and they said, "no. we will play in LA. Either way, it isn't in Brooklyn so what does it matter if we go to Flushing or LA." The Dodgers knew their fanbase had moved out to Nassau and Suffolk and they wanted a stadium on a rr line that they could get to easy from the suburbs. Problem is, Barclays is an even longer trip than Flatbush Ave and isn't as safe a trip as it once was. You will have many LIers getting their kids home from games past 11pm and that will get old quick.

Wang kept the team on LI when it easily could have left...good for him. But at some point, that isn't enough to cover for 15 years of CRAP MANAGEMENT. THAT, not the arena, IS THE REASON why no one will sign with the Islanders. In the case of the Russians we just got, we overpaid and over "yeared" both of them and THAT is what we needed to do to sign FA's. Hanging "he kept them on LI" for 15 years doesn't make Wang a hero. In fact, after about 4 years, he became the PROBLEM, not the solution. CHEATING THE SALARY CAP BASEMENT (what else do you call trading for a retired Tim Thomas?), DPs contract when no one wanted to do it...we went from a committee of 4 to a committee of 1 in a month...he turned the team into a laughing stock. That is the reason why we couldn't sign FAs.

This move to Barclays will improve the team's value for the short term (just in time to sell) but long term I'm betting we will have more arena issues.
