god i love this movie. The director didnt think R lee emry was actually cut out for the drill sergeant role and almost gave the part to someone else. Then emrey improvised/wrote his whole beginning scene, the rest is history

What is sad about that is that a lot of Drill Instructors adopted those lines from the movie. When they thought they were being cool or hard or funny, they were actually being unoriginal as a mofo. When I got stationed at Ft Jackson SC I worked in a basic training company as a supply sergeant. They were still using the same old tired lines.... Although in their defense, it was new to the new recruits that never watched the movie.
Believe it or not they asked me to be a Drill Instructor...
My only response was "are you serious?"

I was thinking more along the lines of doing everything they tell you without question during basic.
If they make you a squad leader or platoon sergeant then act like you know what you are doing, even if you don't. That first week you will fall asleep during classes. Stand up and move to the back of the room before they catch you (if that's still allowed).

Just to keep some perspective. Kyle Orton has been replaced by Rex Grossman and Tim Tebow, two guys that are no longer in the league.

If anyone thinks he's going to come in and win games they need to think again. He's an ok backup, nothing more

If they pull EJ it will be a PR nightmare, the Bills will look like fools again. Regardless if he can't move the team ( and he can't) he should not be the starter.

You got lucky. I got told I was going to be a Drill. Worst times of my career was in TRADOC. Absolutely not in the same solar system as the real Army.
