And I think he'll especially put in an honest effort for Teddy. After all, Teddy's part of the reason Matty Mo came back to Buffalo.

He may have a better effect on Moulson? Capuano and his lackadaisical approach to everything was not the right coach for Moulson let alone anyone IMO.

not what I saw, but so be it...moulson's not a trottier, but he does hustle back

Never saw it? Invisible in the neutral zone. Never hustled back. Minny fans seemed to echo this sentiment. Watched him play a decent amount of games with you guys to make sure it wasn't an aberration and learned it wasn't.

I guess us dumb Buffalo fans were happy with the upgrade from our cherry picking number 26

I wanted Moulson for 3 seasons. He's not a god, but he's good(and his name is Moulson). Less than 48 hours before we got him while wallowing in Sabres mediocrity and self pity, I posted "Can't we just get Moulson". Then BAM, MOULSON! I told the wife I wanted a Moulson jersey for Christmas, the only thing I wanted for Christmas, knowing full well he would likely be traded. Getting him back is a treat.

He puts in a decent effort (or at least pretends to) but even so he's probably just as defensively inept as Vanek. Just tries harder.

I love Matty Mo. Glad he's back. Is he perfect? No. But I think he's a good fit here.

I like Moulson and think he will be good enough in 3 years to be a 2nd line winger when we are playoff team again. He will not be putting up 30 goals a season however 15 to 20 on a 2nd line at that time will be good enough especially if we have guys like MCDavid or Eichel or possibly both. If you have both and they are putting up Crosby like numbers and Moulson is putting up 20 goals or so there will be no loss on his contract.

I honestly thought Vanek was stronger on the puck. I don't know why some Sabre fans think Isles fans have some love for Vanek but that's just an honest opinion it's not coming from some strange hate for Moulson. If he's trying harder I'd say that's definitely a positive. Might have something to do with Nolan? God knows our coach couldn't get it out of him. I've never seen a player give up on a play or dismiss a play when it went the other way more often than Moulson. It was his biggest knock on the Islanders. It's what made him expendable in most of our eyes.

There's no doubt that when both are trying, Vanek is the better player. I think maybe Moulson had a chip on his shoulder/something to prove or perhaps just increasing deadline or FA value but he seemed to have an extra step in his game.

I agree, I watched plenty of Isles games in the past and I followed the minny-col series pretty closely in the playoffs and he looked fairly lethargic. Perhaps because he's got more of a grinder/dirty area game to him it's more appealing to a lot of buffalo fans but straight up i never liked him and I hate that he's here on a 5 year deal

I wouldn't say I hate it, but I don't like it. Which is why I hope he continues to produce and we are able to move on in a few years

I like it but see only one issue...well, several but they all stem from this one issue...Hodgson shoots right and would be far better suited on the right wing than the left. Looking at the current roster, who do you move and to where so that you can have Staf, Stew, Gionta & Hodgson all on the RW and after that, where do they all fit? It's going to be very interesting how it plays out. Depending on game situations it may not even matter...just an observation...

EDIT:

first 9 games

26/63/19
82/23/21
44/28/12
37/8/80
17 & 36 are xtra

after first 9

26/63/21
82/19/80
44/28/12
37/8/36
17 is extra

after trade deadline, Flynn called up

26/63/19
82/28/12
44/65/17
37/8/36

I'm not sure if Deslauriers actually sticks all year but he is a lefty and they are short on LW's unless they want to move Zemgus or Ennis to wing....

Grinder might not be the best adjective. He does go to the dirty areas though.

I think he'll be more of a stop gap for you guys even with his contract. Eventually he'll get pushed off the top line and once that happens I can't see him being nearly as effective. He was borderline worthless outside of the first line on our team and in Minny.
Maybe Nolan can eek something out of him who knows but once your young guns start nipping at his heels I don't see him sticking for much longer.

Which is totally fine with me. Its so much better than some of the bums we had like Leino. But not so good that he's holding young guys back andeating up cap space with a ridiculous Darcy Regeir style contract signed through 2109.

yeah i miss hockey a lot as well.

The beginning of my summer was outstanding as i visited all my friends and went to places ive never been before such as letchworth and watkins glen. But now summer is dragging on and hockey needs to fill the emptiness

i dont even think i will be able to watch hockey this year though guess its better to be this year than next.

For me it was one of those one thing after another summers. Just busy as hell. Really looking forward to sitting the F down for once and watching a game.
