"I'm surprised that we even starting to talk about it so early but I am thrilled," Rinaldo told the Flyers website.

Sounds like Goulbourne when the Flyers drafted him in the third round

RIP, from all accounts a very good man and great player.

My first Flyers game at the Spectrum was in 1970 against the Oakland Seals. I don't remember the score or even who won. But I still remember the chants of "CA-ROL - CA-ROL".

Rinaldo's AAV is $850K. At the very least, it can be buried in the AHL.

Of course that's still $850K less they'll have to re-sign Voracek, Couturier and Schenn in a couple years.

I love Espo's stories about him. Of course, I love Espo's stories about everyone

As if re-signing Rinaldo is in anyway going to prevent the Flyers from being able to re-sign Voracek, Couturier, or Schenn. Much ado about nothing.

I don't see much future for Lauridsen in Philly. After playing in the AHL this season for a healthy $600K I think he may well head elsewhere.
- Feanor

He may, but amongst the "kids" he is the most veteran and has played well (sparingly) in a limited role in the NHL.

That part is good, but I just don't understand why they decided to give him a raise after the season he had.

Yeah, the timing really is more strange than anything. Obviously they love him. I just don't get it. Whenever he's had a chance to do more, he's disappointed.

I don't feel Rinaldo is as bad as some would suggest. However, I do feel he needs to show growth. Someone suggested he can't carry the puck? I don't think that's true at all but the same person suggested he can't kill penalties. This I can't disagree with. It's been tried and it didn't work, so you'll get no argument from me.

I recently watched the back to back, home and home against the Penguins in mid March. Zac Rinaldo was actually really good. He drew two penalties early in each game and he actually was able to steal the puck from Malkin. To my memory, I think he only took maybe one minor all weekend.

Well, think about it, guys. They traded Hartnell, so they need SOMEONE to take a load of bad penalties. Rinaldo is your guy for that.

why the hell are you people so mad about rinaldo? he's a 4th line player it's like people that got upset over the sharks signing john scott
- 2Real

In fairness to Rinaldo, he's about 800x as good at hockey as Jon Scott is.

blaming the 4th line for losing a playoff series is like blaming the back up goalie
- 2Real

the rangers 4th line basically won the series for them against the flyers.

Fair enough. I like this comment. The timing here is the issue not the signing (though. Don't like it either). Poor move #2 by Hexy this summer IMHO

The draft seemed pretty good. Jumping on MDZ when Kimmo went down wasn't bad.

Nope. Overall, I think Hextall has done a solid job. I question some of the depth signings, after all the talk of being more disciplined, but a good number of those were AHL moves.
