I seem to remember him being invisible at camp/pre season.

- boonerbuck

He was great positionally and he skated well better than most of the vets. Didn't put up much for numbers given the time but I liked his play a lot.

Based on his comments here you have to ask? I'm guessing Vantel is thinking no playoffs

Edit: late

A few of us have been pissing on this fire for a while.

I just can't be optimistic. I really want to be. Honest.

I appreciate the insight of guys like Lefty but I just can't see the on-ice positives. Great job restructuring management. No arguing that, but the team that's going to play an 82 game schedule scares me on multiple levels. Specially with the strength of western teams. Look at the improvements that have been made. There are some emerging super stars in the west now and none of them are on the canucks.

Is a first year coach going to make that big a difference?

Is it absurd to think that MAYBE, ONE DAY. Vantel will be optomistic about the Canucks?

This team is not substantially different to our team three years ago. Core pieces are still here. Im made to believe Kes was a locker room Cancer. Torts was the worst decision this club has made in a long time.

Both him and that reject Gillis are gone.

We've brought in the north south style offensive coach. And have a team that probably feels sorely slapped in the face after last year.

IMHO they will come back with there best hockey since 2011.

Contenders? no. Playoffs? Hell yes.

BoninoI think was an EXCELLENT addition to this team. I love the kids game.

I am very optimistic about the Canucks just not this year. Being realistic does not mean I am negative . Name me one top analyst that has this team finishing top 10. They are somewhere between 15 to 25 . I would rather a high draft pick instead of finishing with another Jordan Schroeder type . If we are going to miss ,then miss big.

I do think this team will be fun to watch in two years when most of this core is gone.

For those of you in the pool, PM me what days of the week and times do and don't work for you for our draft. Since it's a short keeper draft it shouldn't be more than 30-60 mins.

I'll also be finding a new owner or two since Fosco is no longer participating and we're only folding the originally agreed upon teams. Anyone interested can also PM me. I think Lums is interested in taking a spot to give his boy Yeti some company.....(frank)ing Leafers though.

I think any night of the week that doesn't have dancing with the stars conflict should be ok at 7 pm in case we have any East coast owners

You hit it on the nail . Immediate future is an oxymoron that is impossible . This team this year is impossible to win a cup or contend to be a top team

Doesnt mean You cant be optamistic. No chance they'll win a cup. But for my value as a paying fan. Im excited to watch an exciting brand of hockey regardless of whether or not they make the SCF

This team is a playoff team end of story.

Canucks finished 24 th last year , got rid of their top scorer, two starting goalies, and their top scoring Dman. They let one of their better centres Santorelli and their top winger Booth walk for nothing.

They are bringing in Sbisa , Vey and Bonino miller and Vrbata and this will raise us 12 spots in the standing?

I have trouble believing that sorry.

Gun to my head and I'd predict 9th in the West right now.

Seriously you lost me at Booth being a top winger.

Yup, and unlike VanCity I find it very difficult to be excited about finishing middle of the pack.

That is why management needs to excite the fans with a few new kids and give them hope for the future.

I've been thinking of young stars in the west and the teams they play on…

Tarasenko - StL
Schwartz - StL
Seguin - Dal
Nichushkin - Dal
MacKinnon - Col
Landeskog - Col
Nugent-Hopkins - Edm
Yakupov - Edm
Hall - Edm
Johansen - Clb
Fowler - Ana
Scheifele - Win
Hertl - SJ

I'm sure there's tons more but you get my point. Many teams have multiple young stars that are performing now. At 21 or 22. Only to get better while maturing in the NHL.

Obviously most of those guys are high 1st round picks but I believe you need of few of those to be successful. That's why we got the twins (2nd and 3rd overall) and that's why we have been a successful regular season team over the years. How the hell is this team going to get a player like that if they keep treading water by filling spots with fringe NHL players and finishing 16 to 20?

Best comment of the summer

Kids 20 years ago were drafted at 5'10 160 lbs. Now they are 6' and up and have been training since age 5 . They are much more NHL ready these days.

So out of his couple year tenure here. We're going to judge him on his last fifteen games!?! You're out to lunch.
