Yes but is he not slipping down the prospect chart? As new blood comes into the franchise he seems to slip further and further away for a spot on the big club.

And what's your definition of fine? Is it his work on the Wolves, or the Comets, or his record with the Canucks? Or is it his AIK IF stats that gives you optimism?

That's the way it goes though. You can't tell your prospects to slow down their development because they're passing someone who was drafted before them. Jensen was practically a second round pick and he's being passed by guys who were drafted mid to early first round. If he doesn't show any improvement this season I'll start to worry.

Jensen should have been on the team from the start last season. I thought he had a great camp last year and with all Torts big talk about youth he didn't play any until he had no choice and Jensen was solid imo at the end of the season.

This ain't a Torts thing. It's a canuck thing. Even after a big shake up in team management there are still limited spots on this roster for our young players. They are going to camp with a lot of fringe NHLers that have contracts. Other than injuries where do you see spots opening up?

Im shocked they havent made more moves because of this. I honestly dont see how you can introduce young talent to a team that is packed to the gills.

Exactly! Thank you!

How is this a shift from the status quo we've been experiencing for years as canuck fans?

The team is no longer 'packed to the gillis'. We are on the right track.

I think this because the management isn't so different from us. They don't really know exactly what they have. When every player on a team declines significantly all at once it's easy to assume the problem was the coach, but you can't know for sure until you see them play.

I didn't suggest that. Jets have trouble keeping talent on their team and need to home grow their future stars seeing no one in UFA will go there.

Yes he is further down the chart, because, we've picked higher in the first round. So he's got some better "prospects" ahead of him now. Their expectations are higher IMO though? That said, he's still a very good young player with room to grow.

Detroits young guns everyone is glowing about (Nyquist) was 24 in his first full year last year.

I like how he came on at the end of his time with the Comets and I like his game with the twins. Although I think he'll be a streaky scorer. He can skate, he can shoot, he's got NHL size and I like his game.

I agree. I think that it depends a lot on the season, both Jensen's and the Canucks'. If Jensen continues to develop they'll likely find a spot for him, or if the team struggles then every veteran forward not named Sedin will be trade bait and a spot will open up for him. If he doesn't improve and the Canucks are decent then he might be another Schroeder.

Just what if the problem was Daniel and Kesler? Easy to blame the coach but Daniel stopped shooting last year and Kesler stopped passing years ago . This was not a one year decline. There was no chemistry on the team except for a handful of players playing well at the start and fewer at the end.

Then expression goes poop flows downhill. If your top two lines are struggling then you are not going to have success

I think it will be interesting to see how or if the team chemistry changes with Kesler gone.
That could easily be the unspoken intangible this year. ( In 'unspoken' I mean the team never saying they are better without him).

The team was in decline before Torts came along, but then he strapped a jet pack on them and pointed it down. Despite all of the rhetoric around making the playoffs I think that this is an evaluation year, for management to see how much, if any, hockey the veterans have left.

Kesler's gone, so problem solved I guess. If D Sedin can't sort it out we're hooped.

You can't make moves until the said young player EARNS a spot, then you make some trades, which Benning has stated he's willing to do.

I honestly don't mind seeing Daniel struggle this year. This is an excellent year for a top draft pick . I see one or two more years of struggle then a move towards the top ,much like the AVs

If Daniel scores 20+ goals as a 34 year old, he's done his job.
