Not having a 4th because of Pavel Kubina was bad enough. Seeing that lack of a 4th-rounder cited by Pryor as the impetus for stepping up to take Z2? Talk a bout a kick in the nuts.

Clarke was, hands down, the hardest working player I ever saw in any sport. Watching him play was just a treat. He went all out, every second of every shift and what makes it even more impressive is, that in his heyday, he often played upwards of 25 minutes per game. Just unreal!

Do you have a list of the greats you've seen live or maybe a list of players you regret you've missed see play?

Sometimes his lists come out of nowhere and you can't help but wonder where they came from but you can't deny they're well thought out and passionate.

LOL, top 10 worst European Flyers would just bring back way too many painful memories of guys like Dopita, Kubina, and Bryz. No thanks!

Some all time greats I was lucky enough to see in person:
Bobby Orr
Gordie Howe
pretty much the entire roster of the late 70s Canadiens
Phil Esposito
Stan Mikita
Denis Potvin
Gil Perrault
Marcel Dionne

Some guys I wish I had been around to see:
Gordie Howe (in his prime)
Doug Harvey
Maurice "Rocket" Richard
Ted Lindsay
Bobby Hull (may have seen him as a little tyke in the early 70s, but I don't really remember it)
Terry Sawchuk
Jacques Plante (in his prime, saw him with Toronto at the end of his career, but I was too young to really appreciate it)
Glenn Hall
Jean Beliveau

edit: I didn't bother listing any greats from 1980 to now, I've pretty much see them all.

Orr was the first non Flyer to really stand out to me. You could just see that he was moving in a whole other gear than everyone else on the ice.

Another funny memory is watching Gordie Howe during his last season, 79-80, lay out Al Hill of the Flyers with a nasty elbow. Even at age 52, no one really wanted to mess with Gordie!

well that's 3 right there. only need 7 more. that should be easy.

i discovered hockey in 79-80 and was able to see some greats at the end of their careers like clarke but also just missed guys like parent, which sucks, just like potvin. just ask rangers fans.

I saw a lot of the same guys you did, but was either too young to fully appreciate them or too much a fan of the Flyers to really appreciate the greatness.

I do remember seeing Gordie nail Al Hill.

I dont know, it is hard to rag on Soderstrom- a guy who had a heart issue during his playing time here. Remember they had to run the wire into his heart and do some muscle shocking or burning to clear it up. I dont know how that would affect us mentally let alone a pro athlete. And he did have the pleasure of playing during an era of "rebuilding" the Flyers when there wasnt much in front of him on D

I think it's fair to say I'm a lot young then you but my list of great players I've seen live would be.

Steve Yzerman
Nicolas Lidstrom
Jaromir Jagr
Peter Forsberg
Mats Sundin
Chris Chelios
Brendan Shanahan
Chris Pronger
Dominik Hasek
Ed Belfour
Eric Lindros
Mark Recchi
Jeremy Roenick
John LeClair
Pavel Datsyuk
Marian Hossa (Datsyuk and Hossa's on line set up for the craziest stick work I've ever seen)
Rod Brind'Amour
Henrik Zetterberg
Brian Rafalski
Mathieu Schneider
Daniel Alfredsson
Vincent Lecavalier
Marian Gaborik
Claude Giroux
Taylor Hall (In juniors with our buddy Wellwood)

So I think it's safe to say your list puts mine to shame, being of a different generation.

I agree. If I came up with a top 10 of least favorite Euros, Soderstrom wouldn't even crack it. I liked him. I remember he used to sing along with the arena music.

LOL, probably happens in every generation. I'm sure there were fans back in the 50s and 60s who wished they had seen Howie Morenz, Eddie Shore and King Clancy!

FWIW, my all time Flyers lunchpail team, not too much diff than Bill's by the way:

1st Team
G: Ron Hextall
D: Barry Ashbee
D: Brad Marsh
LW: Shjon Podein
C: Bobby Clarke
RW: Gary Dornhoefer

2nd Team
G: Steve Mason
D: Kimmo Timonen
D: Jimmy Watson
C: Dave Poulin
LW: Bill Barber
RW: Sami Kapanen

I gave the edge to Mason over Esche cause I have been really impressed at how hard he has worked to turn his game around since coming to Philly. I went with Sami as a RW, cause IIRC, he usually played on the right side when he was here. Lappy just missed the cut at RW, I gave it to Dornhoefer and Kapanen over him mainly due to time of service as a Flyer. I also gave Poulin the slightest of edges over Brind'amour, but you really can't go wrong with either one.

For our favorite list maker, just copied/pasted

Just had Talisker single malt scotch, aged 25 years. It's part of a collection of scotch whiskeys bought as a gift for my grandfather. We got them in Scotland 15 years ago, and just cracked into it!

From left to right, we have Talisker (25 years aged), Oban (29), Glenkinchie (25), Dalwhinnie (30), Lagavulin (31), and Cragganmore (27) single malt scotch whiskey.
