Kane and Saad...... Richards is going to fit like a glove. Dude shoots all the time which thenHawks need badly and Kane is an all universe set up man that will help Richards score more . It's going to be amaze balls . Plus Richards won't have to worry about D too much .
- mrpaulish

Saad... What a beauty pick. I remember hoping the Leafs would draft Saad or Boone Jenner in that draft. I think we picked Biggs?

Richards is looking at 60+ points I would say.

The question is what teams are the market for Sharp? IMO, its a team that has designs on being legitimate Cup contenders. Those teams aren't going to give you any top 6 players. So. you get a bottom 6 player, maybe, or pick/,prospects. How does that make the Hawks better?
- Elbows15

Yes, you are correct. Not an easy decision. But the Hawks could use a little depth against the Kings - rolling 4 solid lines was the key to cup years. Like every season, you will need a player to step up and usually play above his pay rate. I am sure SB is asking a lot and no teams are biting yet.

Also the Hawks are not the most physical team, and rolling 4 lines keeps everyone a little fresher and is one of the best tactics against physical opponents.

That Saad-Richards-Kane line could be gold. I'm hoping to scoop up Saad in my hockey pool, I think he'll have a breakout year.

Here is another big point against Sharp - Sharp didn't kill penalities and played on the number 1 pp where he was getting setup for the shot and played on the number 1 line. The guy should have been the top scorer on the team.

Another point, we still have to clear 8 mil next year and still sign Saad (maybe another 2 to 3mil), estimating 2mil increase in cap (the 2mil is a total guess which we are already over this year).

So - go for it this year? ofc, but who is going to go? Which youngster will Q play? Sharp can be replaced. Move him and get something in return. Best to have four lines rocking than 1 great line and two so-so lines and a checking line.

- Topshelf2010

......so, Bickell - Toews - Hossa
Saad - Richards - Kane
?? - Shaw - Versteeg
Morin - Kruger - Smith = "4 lines rocking"...

.....and Sharp - Toews - Hossa
Saad - Richards - Kane
Bickell - Shaw - Versteeg
Morin - Kruger - Smith = "1 great line, 2 so-so lines, and a checking line"..

Seriously....the combination of Bickell being somehow better than Sharp on our top line AND the 3rd liner we get in the package for Sharp being a better player than Bickell would be what you're asking for in order to say "we can trade Sharp, improve our depth, and still be a better team next year". It just doesn't make sense. Its not feasible in any way.

I would have to agree with you. Stan's not the type of GM that would go over the cap without more than one viable option for getting back under it.

I think he had a hard time dragging around the Flower Forward Rick Trash. One of the most overrated guys in the game.

I think BR does well with Kane, I'm betting my pool on it.

Richards played with hagelin and MSL. 2 of the fastest players on our team.

I agree, I would have to think he's far down the depth chart. Guys like Regin, Nordstrom, McNeill and Danault should get a shot before a guy like Bass.
- DarthKane

I don't know about that. Regin would probably be ahead of him in the depth chart, but players such as Nordstrom, McNeill, Danault, and Ross would benefit more from playing regular minutes in Rockford rather than possibly playing part time with the big club. Especially if some of these players may be viewed as possible personnel replacements in '15-'16.

From what I've read about Bass, he's a defense-first type player who kills penalties and can play both wing and center who has a little bit of size to him (6' 210 lbs). He just might fit the system in Chicago. If he does, that keeps the kids working on what they need to work on in Rockford.

However, we still don't know how much room under the cap the Hawks will have to start the season. It's entirely possible that the Hawks could roll 13 forwards to start the season.

Richards is trash and will be centering your 4th line by Thanksgiving.

Says the guy who was doing cartwheels over the addition of future hall of famer Kevin Hayes.

I'll take the over the hill Conn Smythe winner over the unproven prospect with a sense of entitlement any day of the week.

Wiz,

I'm gonna go a little out on a limb here and say that I think a guy who could make this team as a pure 4th line, energy guy but make a difference in that role is Cody Bass. What do you think about him?

- John Jaeckel

Bass will go with anybody and has some girth to him, but at a tad over six foot he is certainly isn't a heavyweight.

Sure I could see it, him getting some games.

BTW, on netflix streaming, I been watching The Last Gladiators, about Chris Nilan and other true heavyweights.

I will never forget that game the Blackhawks in an effort to stand up to some opponent after a few injuries to real NHL defenseman this is stretching it Maggie and Doug Jarrett, might have been injured) brought up the Portland Buckaroos pairing Rick Foley and Gerry Korab.

I followed the other leagues, I knew from in warm-up what we were gonna be be watching
