Flyers Shipped out Hartnell because they didn't like his commitment to conditioning but they will sign Penner a guy even worse in terms of conditioning? I call bull. Penner isn't that good anymore. He had a hot streak last season but he couldn't hold down the top line minutes playing with Getzlaf and Perry. As the Flyers lineup is currently set
Simmonds - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Lecavalier - Read
Umberger - Coots - Raffl
Rinaldo - White - Akeson/Rosehill
As you can see Penner fits nowhere and would not be an upgrade anywhere. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Where is sean couturier in this line up??never mind I see Coots. . |

Leafs got basically two first rounders for him, that's pretty good return. |

The Leafs should invite Kaberle to camp. He was always a good player and played his best for Toronto. If they can sign him to a minimal deal he would be a great 7 or 8th d-man for them in case of injuries. Who knows maybe his heart is in Toronto and that is why he never did well any where else he went. Just a thought, Just in case the young guys are not ready for the big time yet you have a vet on the bench or press box to help a bit. |

not better than Rosehill or White...how many (frank)ing guys do you need on the 4th line that can only throw knuckles? |

The only guy there that can do that is Rosehill. Rinaldo can fight but he rarely does, more of an agitator who ironically is easy to agitate. White I don't know much about but conmsidering he only had 50 PIMS in 52 games I highly doubt he fights much. Rosehill got 90 PIMS in 34 games he is a fighter and Akeson is the furthest thing from a fighter. |

Two 1st and a second considering how he's played after the trade that's pretty close to a ransom. |

the orig trade was suppossed to be kaberle for kessel but apparently there was confusion over who added a 1st to the deal so it didnt happen...
so it ended up being 2 firsts and a second for 2 firsts and a second
with kessel and kaberle changing teams

You'd have a better shot trolling for that trout Ek mentioned than a Leafs fan with this...Kaberle's time in the NHL is behind him. |

It wasn't the only reason, defensively he was brutal, he stood there standing still in the D zone, he took too many penalties, he is a player going into a decline and will not be the same player in say 2-3 years while signed for 5 years. Guy only had 52 points playing wing with Giroux. Umberger probably won't do much better but he can be counted on the play good defensively and he IS a better skater than Hartnell, No matter what a Columbus fan says.

It has more to do with Hartnell not being able to stay out of the box, nor having any inclination to try and improve on this aspect of his game. - MBFlyerfan

We got a 1st, 2nd, and a top 5 prospect from boston at the time for Kaberle. Thats a pretty decent return.
Kaberle was never that good..... only a 4 time all star who put up a career .57ppg pace. had a 67 point season as well, not many d-man can do that.
take off the habs/sens shades or whatever you are wearing. Kaberle was one of the top puck movers in the league in his prime, and played nearly 1000 games in the NHL |
