But he said the Leafs are considering splitting up JVR and Kessel to even up the lines more. Not crazy about the idea.

It only makes sense if JVR finds chemistry with Kadri. And it dosnt really work with Clarkson on a line with JVR and it seems like the plan is to have Clarkson on the second line with Kadri.

What happens if(when) Lupul gets injured? JVR will most likely go back to that line. It just dosnt make sense to me.

We know Kessel can play with either JvR or Lupul... for me it comes down to whether JvR on the second makes that line more balanced. Hard to say until we see it happen.

We all know that if JVR plays on the second line Clarkson can't.
We can't have two guys in front of the net.

We all are.... We all are!

Kessel will start fast, go into one of his slow streaks, Lupul will get hurt and our defense will be porous. I'm pretty confident that they won't make it. Even the teams, save Ottawa, around us in the standings got stronger. The Islanders will have a much better season than last year, as will Florida and Buffalo. We'll be fighting with Carolina and Ottawa for the basement next year. We still have Dion and Randy.

Agreed, it isn't an accident that Lupus and JVR both had career years with Kessel. Both fairly similar in game style.
