Rangers made out like bandits, scrappy little Dorsett - 2nd line C in Brassard and a pretty good D man.

Not sure how the salary cap would play out but if the Rags didn't make either trade, they could have been a much deeper team... but that's me speculating

I don't like Gaborik, I think it was a great trade for the Rags ( this one )

Who knows where Khadri's ceiling is? We have a pretty good idea where LC's is and for now, he's a better hockey player. But were talking short and curly's here.
- Jeropotato

Exactly, it's not like Crosby compared to Bozak or something.

What a stupid comment. Kadri couldn't carry Couture's jock strap!

You wouldn't know your ass from a hole in the ground.

I hate BB what kind of junior high name is that?

Couture is a great 2 way player, not sure I ever see him top 80 points though. Will NK? Jury is still out, IMO.

Sure, you don't have to like it, but Thornton is way more effective than either of those guys. I get the asset management arguement but you're only kidding yourself if you think you will win more games with those guys than with Joe .

I like what the Isles are doing but if you think you're 'set' with those guys than you have me confused. Set for what? A division Championship? Conference title? Stanley Cup?
Joe Thornton would be the 2nd best player on your team.

- Jeropotato

So we're suddenly that much better with Thornton? We need a defenseman and already have JT, grabovski, Nielson, Strome, Nelson and Cizikas who are all centers. So why again do we trade two guys who can play wing for another center when we need a defenseman? You're on crack.

Ease up pal, your getting a touch defensive. You can identify defense as the higher need no doubt, but are you actually telling me that your 2C is better than Joe Thornton? Sorry, but Thornton is still one of the best players in the world, and a top 5-7 Center . I like the Isles , like what they're doing , but Thornton makes that team better in the present.

It absolutely is. The Oulers will always have to operate as though High end free agents are not an option and with the understanding that nobody will waive to play here.

That's life for the Oilers, gotta make do with the options we do have.

Did you actually mean Uranus, or were you thinking Anus? Not to worry, either or work.

Yup! Since 1991! Just the way she goes. At least Long Island can be sold as a desirable place to live to some.

It just amazes me how undervalued Kadri is. Only in Toronto.

Saying he's on par with Couture is overvaluing him.

I agree. In threads people basically see him as garbage, but to the same fault alot of Toronto fans think he's worth a lot more than he actually is when coming up with mock trades. Everyone does it. We all over value our own players and undervalue others. Kadri in particular has been getting the short end IMO

I also agree with this. Kadri might be undervalued by the masses but couture is better.

what you're not getting is that Nelson and Lee are both very good young forwards who can play on the wing. They're also a decade younger and will continue to improve further. Adding an older center to the team who would not produce at the same level playing behind JT and giving up both of them is something that would get a GM fired. You don't make a move like that unless it's the final piece you need for a cup contender, not for a team with youth all through the lineup that's trying to build a team to get to the playoffs.

Defensive? No. Do I think it's a flat out stupid trade proposal? Absolutely yes.

I am very happy with our depth down the middle. We are arguably the best team in the east in that position.

It's okay to disagree, and explain your points like you have, but completely unnecessary to be a Penis about it. It's not so much stupid as it is poor timing. I agree that it would be a poor long term move, where I suppose we differ is that I think you roll into next season a better team with Joe and you think Nelson and Lee make you stronger.
