Sure, I get it. They aren't at that stage yet, and they've been doing the slow build for a while, no need to mess with the program if the urgency isn't there.
- Jeropotato

I really thought this off-season the Rangers where gonna trade for him, bc they lack that #1 C. Plus I could see a Nash for Thorton trade during the season too.....

Leafs could use him also but I don't see the Leafs parting w/JVR

Theres not many options for Sharks unless they expect less back, which will end up happening..........

I thought Columbus got an excellent return for Nash.
- Jeropotato

But got robbed when they traded for Gaborik IMO

They did, but more was initially expected. The Toronto media slobbering over "Franchise Player"
Rick Nash was pretty ridiculous.

- RogerRoeper

Yeah, everyone was calling for Howson's head after that trade. Plus Nash has since suffered a concussion and according to Rangers fans he hasn't been the same since apparently.

The starting point to get Nash according to the media (For the Leafs) was Gardiner, Kadri, their first (top 5 pivk-Morgan Rielly). They got nothing like that.

In fact, Spezza and Kesler both returned less than people thought.

Kadri is underrated and receiving far too much criticism. And 50 points isn't great, he can hit 70.
- RogerRoeper

I hope so, love the leafs

Not a big fan of him yet.

But......Couture is a better overall player IMO

If Gaborik could of stayed healthy and been more productive, it would of been a fair trade. Gabbs usually has 1 great season followed by an injured mediocre 1.

Ah yes, the "Defense" argument.

Would Couture look good defensively in Toronto right now? People would actually see him play nightly. Would Kadri be so criticized in San Jose? Of course not.

I thought they gave up quite a bit for a guy who can't seem to stay healthy.

The biggest thing impacting the return for a premier talent like Thornton is the NMC. Whomever he might choose to waive to has the ability to say take it or leave it. Works the opposite of a bidding war.
If he said "Leafs only", the Sharks would have to settle for Lupol and Franson at best.

*Waits for Leafs fans to argue that it's an overpay.

This is where NTC's come back to haunt teams. It's not due to a lack of trade market value, it's simply a lack of leverage for the seller.

Holy (frank), how about you take a poll?

I watch every game, I said I like Kadri, he's far from great though

Just because he's a leaf doesn't mean I don't see the good and bad.

So he's a scoring god and he's wicked defensively.......right????!

Kadri is getting too much criticism and is far undervalued. The stats don't lie.

my bad, I knew it wasn't right.....

this was the trade for Nash.....

Rick Nash from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forwards Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, defensive prospect Tim Erixon and a first-round draft pick in 2013.

This is the Gaborik trade.......

The deal sends right wing Derek Dorsett, center Derick Brassard, defenseman John Moore and a sixth-round draft pick in 2014 to the Rangers.

Why does Couture get almost a minute and a half per game on the PK, compared to 8 seconds per game for Kadri?

Was Toronto's 28th ranked PK that stacked with defensive forwards compared to San Jose's 6th ranked PK?

Why does Kadri have more points the past 2 seasons despite the perception he's not in Couture's league?

Not by you, that's for sure - he's not perfect, (frank) every player in the league gets criticism - comes with the job

Couture > Kadri

When Kadri scores back to back 30 - I will agree with you

Did you count up games played?

He missed 17 games last year and was only outscored by 3 points

Players in non-hockey markets get no criticism. You really think every city is like Toronto?
Only in Columbus could Rick Nash be a Franchise superstar for a decade with 0 playoff wins and avg 60 points.

Well I'm not talking about what people thought, I'm talking about what actually went down. A similar return is reasonable.

I don't care about that.

Were Leaf fans talking about Kadri, I don't follow what others say - I watch the games and other teams games.

Kadri is not at Couture status yet, not saying Couture is a god or even a 1st line player but he looks better than Kadri ( hurts my heart to say it - but it's true )

Rangers made out like bandits, scrappy little Dorsett - 2nd line C in Brassard and a pretty good D man.

Who knows where Khadri's ceiling is? We have a pretty good idea where LC's is and for now, he's a better hockey player. But were talking short and curly's here.

That would be just stupid..we have a couture (kadri) we are keeping JVR
- Daddichronic

What a stupid comment. Kadri couldn't carry Couture's jock strap!
