But honestly lets put this debate to rest bc Kadri has the potential but hasn't lived up to it yet. Couture is the much better player, Kadri is still an enigma to the Leafs as they have no idea what type of player he is or becoming. I'm a Kadri fan but stop this debate w/him & Couture bc its not even close (right now).

Well said, it is starting to sound bizarre. Kadri had 50 pts on 78 games for a rate of .641 pts per game. His even strength goal differential rate was -11. Couture had a .831 pts per game rate on 54 points in 65 games. He was an outstanding +21 on even strength goal differential.
When someone says that they would choose Kadri over Couture, just humor them. Sometimes blind loyalty to a particular team is just the way some fans are.

And really, screw +/-. It's a team stat. Want to know Phil Kessel's +/- his last season in Boston? +23. Kadri's would be far better on San Jose, Couture far worse in Toronto. |

I'd take couture over any player on the leafs.

Over Phil Kessel? LOL. He's not in Kessel's league.
Phil Kessel= second in total NHL points the past 3 seasons with Bozak centering him.
Couture is much closer to comparing to Kadri then Kessel. |

I also think in another market Kadri would be valued far more. And Couture wouldn't have this great reputation in Toronto.
Kadri is terribly underrated right now. He's 23, had 44 points in 48 games, then 50 points in a "Bad season" with not great ice-time.
The consensus is Couture is a star you build around. Kadri is an "Okay" young player who might make decent second line centre.
Do the facts tell us this? No, not really, But that's the perception.
Of course we just had a comment on this board saying Couture is better than Phil Kessel. |
