I agree with his assessment and him believing in his players. But in a public forum like that it opens him up to criticism for being overly optimistic or just generally unrealistic. I think it unlikely that Schultz will win a Norris to say the least and imagine Mac T does as well. That's not a bet anyone would take. Many people, especially in the media, purposely misconstrued comments like that.

Gotta handle players differently in Edmonton and show a bit more faith and loyalty. Remember that Schultz chose the Oilers over close to 29 other teams when nobody else would. To be a hard ass at this point would be foolish. You also have to keep in mind that his predecessor did some serious damage to the Oilers reputation with the way he handled the Souray fiasco.
