Isn't the object of the bridge deal to give the player time to prove themselves? That would mean paying them less or around what they are currently worth. The Oilers didn't get the job done here.

Look at Brodie's contract. Makes this one look gross.

I see this as total hardball from his camp.

He wanted big dollars and obviously mact wasnt willing to do that based on his performance thus far.
But schultz also wasnt willing to take a similar number to what he got for any extended period.
He wants a big contract asap.
If he puts up a similar season to the last one, he'll be moved as he wont accept what hes actually worth.

Either he plays well and gets paid, or forces us to move him. Probably at low value too

But id guess that its not necessarily a mistake by mact per se. Negotiations dragged on for a reason. It was this or a holdout.

Both petry and schultz were tricky signings for mact. And I think he wasnt willing to back himself into a corner and commit to either player and handcuff himself longterm

He did zero favours for the squad. Fair enough if thats par for the course these days, but Much better players have accepted far better deals for the club.

He way overvalues himself for what hes actually accomplished.

He got good value, cornered the club, and gets to renegotiate asap.

Its not like many many players havent accepted fair market value.

Very well writen.. It's not for everyone and the first two seasons are slow (enjoyable may I add) but you make as well check it out man.
