I imagine Schultz really wanted big numbers for a long term deal. With his price for one year I would have been happy with a long term 5 mill per season. I watched those AHL games and even how he started in the NHL so I also believe he has true top pairing potential in both ends of the ice. But it doesn't sound like Schultz would have signed for 5 per long term. I don't think this deal can hurt us because of what Schultz was most likely asking for anyways. Not exactly sure why he would think he could ask to get paid by potential only but doesn't really matter now.

In short, good compromise from all parties.
