I don't see them moving Eakin. Without him their depth at center isn't good enough in that division.

A lot of their centers are UFA after this season. He's the only one locked in besides Seguin

The way I look at it too. He's a talented as hell player, usually drives the puck the right way on the ice, but I was just so surprised at the overall dollar figure

During this whole expansion talk, a few articles list Carolina as a potential relocation team as the owner has been quietly shopping them for a ridiculous price though.

If thats the case, when will they have the salary purge

Awesome. He got hurt early and Kirk Muller tried to bury him on the fourth line for big stretches of the year, but once he got some top-6 minutes (specifically after the world juniors) he started putting up some nice numbers. Playing with Skinner and E.Staal doesn' hurt, obviously. The puck just sticks to him and while he didn't have the strength to go get it every shift last year, once he adds that into his game he's going to be an awesome player.

He just doesn't make mistakes with the puck.

But they've got the fire power up front and have only really improved their roster.

I really think they're going to need to find an actual Dman to add to their roster because I don't think a guy like Oleksiak is going to cut it

He likely needs that man-strength. He looked decently built at the combine, just shy of 6-1 (maybe 6-1 now) and 190 ish. Not bad for 18.

They've been patient to this point, and we're only starting to see the first generation of "Born and raised" Canes fans. These things take time.

Plus the on-ice product has sucked. Specifically, Kirk Muller.
