I think a Danny-Henrik-Shinkaruk line would be struggle for multiple reasons but that's just me.

I hope Horvat gets 9 games just to get him some NHL experience and is sent back down unless he really is impressive and consistent in those 9, but just not looking like a scrub shouldn't be enough for him to make it.

My guess is that one of Jensen or Shinkaruk make the team. Gaunce starts in the AHL.

I was reading a Flames blog a couple days ago and they were saying the same thing about their prospects.

Just want to see a rookie or two play so well that it is a nobrainer to make the team.

He is exactly what the 1st line needs. Imo.

If he proves to them he belongs, then they've got some decisions to make.

Obviously, but at least there's more to it then just Cederholme ( longshot), Subban (longershot) and McEney or whatever.

Just three seasons ago Connauton seemed like our best d prospect and nobody was sure he could play in the NHL...

Corrado, Hutton, and McEneny all have a shot and maybe that big Russian too. Do we want more depth? Of course. It is something the team has sucked at for a long time, Gillis talked about improving but we didn't see it until his end and now with Benning.

I like Corrado and Hutton as solid D prospects. After them it gets petty thin. Tryamkin and Subban are intriguing, but I'd say long shots as well considering their draft positions and production compared to current NHL regulars when they were in junior/Europe.

Does any of this ring a bell?

I've read Gaunce picked up a step, much needed, or he'll play a lot of AHL games in his career!!

We need solid goaltending and he gives us that. What we don't need is "Lu drama" - that I've had enough of!!

Yep. Just moving on. No need to complain about Miller. Just have to roll with it and see what becomes of all the "if's" .

I look at Vrbata and think, we asked for another top 6 forward who can score, he wasn't on my list of players to target. Curious to see what happens.

tick tick tick.

Re: Gaunce, heard same thing. It would be great if he stepped up and earned a spot. Make a vet expendable, make the trade for a pick and/or prospect. Possibly free up some cap space.

Agreed. I really liked Lu but all the drama was growing tiresome, change had to be made. Is Miller the GT I would have liked to see us sign? No. I'm just glad we didn't sign him for 6-7 years. The problem is that I can feel another GT controversy brewing... I give it about 6 weeks into the season when the crowd turns on Miller and starts chanting "Eddie, Eddie". Could be sooner if Miller throws the team under the bus after a loss...

Compared to last year on the controversy meter, what are we looking at?

If Eddie wins the job, it may not matter what teams were on his list. Truth be told, wanted Lack and veteran backup or Markstrom. As long as the they keep it interesting and win or keep it close... I don't see anywayhow we could be bottom 5.

By Decemeber, we'll have a veteran back-up. He'll just be making $6m for the next 3 years...

It will, then Miller will request a trade starting another unfortunate chain of events in which Lack is moved, only to have Markstrom outplay Miller again at which point we trade Markstrom and Miller leaves the year after as a UFA.

THEN, we trade a high first rounder for another wash up ala Ward, MAF or even Lou in three years time
