The captain should be Pavelski. The captain should have been Pavelski a couple of years ago.

Ahhhh, Scott. Yet another reason to root against the Sharks. Let's hope no one gets seriously injured before this clown is kicked out of the league.

Disagree. Pav is not Captain material...

"The way I see it: If the Sabres no longer want the behemoth that they let through the gates of the NHL in the first place then no one should want him."

Scott played for 3 different teams before playing for Buffalo. Started his NHL "career" in 2008, went to Buffalo in 2012.

Please don't pin him being in the league on Buffalo.

They did put him on the map though.

Indeed.

By continuing to employ him, they justified his position in the league.

Rat face Couture couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel...

Vlasic is quiet but has some leadership ability.

From an outsiders perspective I would take Hall over Couture and I think Couture is great but Hall will be the better player imo.

Not necessarily "out of the league," per se, but I can't wholly disagree with this.

Nice write up, Tim.

Thinking they have to move the two big guys or give their letters back to them. Not a good move on the Sharks part IMO. This stuff blows up, typically creates a divide. I know Thornton and Marleau can put on a face to please fans but inside they are fuming. Sunshine is likely the only reason they are not demanding a trade.
- MrPerfect316

It didn't blow up when they took the C from Marleau, he had his best year of his career the following season.

Marleau and Thornton take all the heat. But they are still the two best players and two best leaders on the team. The rest of the group needs to step up. Problem for the Sharks is that the guys behind them are good players but are not leaders. Letters dont really mean much. Natural leaders will lead whether they have a letter or not. And no one other than Joe and Patty have what it takes.
- Iggysbff

Best players I can agree with most of the time, best leaders I cannot disagree more. A leader doesn't look defeated when you are down by 1 goal and the game isn't half over yet in the playoffs. Joe folded going down one goal, you saw it on his face and the rest of the team followed him down.

As I said earlier...a letter on your jersey does not make you a leader. If there was anyone capable of picking that team up and willing them to a win they would have. No one else stepped up. This, or any other year. This is still going to be a dominant team. Anyone thinking they are going to nose dive is wrong. Joe is still the man that makes this team tick. Until someone else steps up, it wont change. I've been hoping they would put it all together and win the big one for years now.

It really is mind boggling that guys like Eric Godard couldn't find NHL work and a very competitive team like the Sharks sign John Scott. I'm using Godard as an example because at least he was an honest tough guy. Didn't run people, didn't try to fight the Phil Kessels of the game. You could at least respect him for doing his job. Scott is just off on his own planet of goon. Its kind of hard to blame Buffalo for Scott's existence in the NHL when the SHARKS just signed him.
