Well if you actually lived in Calgary and followed the team you could go down to COP just about any day and get a look at some of the players and prospects skating and talk about that....

But he doesn't live in CGY, and we are lucky to have a good writer blogging for us. So dump the attitude.

Here's a blog idea....
write about your thoughts and people's impressions regarding Monahan vs Bennett
They are close in age and draft position. Both play center
who has a higher ceiling? Why is it that ppl thought Monahan had a chance to make the team (and he did) vs Bennett that many are assuming will be sent down?

Monahan is more than a year and a half older and he was more physically mature after his draft. Bennett is only listed at 178lbs. Mony was a late b-day at his draft where as Benntt was one of the younger players in his draft. That's why people expect him to be returned.

That, and there was a glaring hole in the lineup last year that Monahan filled. Bennett would have to outplay one of Backlund/Monahan/Stajan to win a spot. I don't see that happening this year.

Reasonable to think he can try to win out a spot on the wing as well, which he has played. Still, not likely.

When you have a kid who should develop into a top line center, I think it's a mistake to bring him up on the wing.
