Tons of FA hit the market at the end of every off season. No reason they can't land any of them. There are definitely some good guys out there without jobs. More hockey teams is good for everyone really. Means more jobs not just for players but the public as well. I don't believe they will be a contender first NHL season or anything but they should be able to Ice a decent team. The question I have is how does the draft work then? Think teams would be upset to lose out on the 1st overall pick because new teams are joining the league and I don't feel it is fair to a new team to put them last. What do you do in that situation?

No, they really don't. And there are way better players available. It's just that guys price themselves out of the NHL market in some cases and have to find employment elsewhere.

GM's employ plugs because that's what they can afford. Not because good players aren't out there.

So in the matter of one day, I have seen on Hockeybuzz that the NHL is definitely going to 32 teams with Vegas being a guarantee to this morning there being 4 teams coming in to now Vegas NOT being a guarantee.

Can someone please get the story straight?

The Edmonton journal reported that the NHL will add 4 teams by 2017. Eklund says only 2. Who is right? I'm hoping for four. I'd love to go down to Vegas for some cheap hockey.

Florida won't move. They're fine. The hockey team is really just a way of keeping more stuff going on in that building. The building is the business, not the hockey team.

I don't think Marham would have as many fans as people think. I think of it as the Ottawa Senators. Most fans in Ottawa are Leafs fans. If Markham got a team most people in Toronto would be Leafs fans.

Ditto. It'd cost me the same amount to go spend 4 nights in Vegas and catch a game as it would to spend a weekend in Calgary.

They are called prospects, and no one will play them on the 4th line for 5 minutes,

They ARE fine. If they are open to Vegas, this plays right IN the hand of Panthers new ownership who want to build casinos and hotels directly around the arena. It's already been discussed here.

Lets just keep watering down the league with small market teams. The league does not need to expand, it needs downsize considerably.

But if Markham gets an NHL team, then Toronto will want one!
