I am not trying to smack talk anyone but to say that the Leafs are a top contender is just plain retarded and then to turn around and compare them to a Ferrari just makes it worst. If you want to talk laughing stock of the NHL, look no further than the team you cheer for. |

He should have said formula 1 car. But you k car Edmonton fans will never understand and that entertains me. |

Be smarter. We're obviously talking performance, not financial status. Great if you can afford a Ferrari but if you cant even drive a mini without crashing it repeatedly, who cares. The leafs are NOT a ferrari or any other high performance machine. - TandA4Flames
compared to the oilers they are. |

so wait...you're telling me that a stanley cup is only relevant, if my parents were alive to witness it? so hypothetically speaking, if my parents were born in the 90s, that would make all the cups the oilers won in the 80s irrelevant?
god i wish people would use common sense when trying to argue. my age, my parents age, anyone's age is irrelevant. you look at a franchise and see how many cups they've won to determine if they are successful.
its funny that all the people who trash talk the leafs are mostly fans of teams that have barely won anything at all. |

leafs can EASILY be a top contender in the east. the east is terrible this year, there are so many bubble teams. how many locks for the playoffs are there in the east? boston, pittsburgh, philly, rangers. the rest of the spots are up for grabs, so the leafs can easily be a top contender next year. meanwhile the oilers on the other hand, have ZERO chance of making the playoffs. anaheim, stlouis, chicago, san jose, LA are guarenteed locks, and there is no way the oilers finish ahead of dallas, colorado, minny etc.
i can't believe i just had to explain why the leafs are a much better team than the oilers |

I will post 2 responses to this and that is all the time I will waste on such a (frank)in moron.
1. You must have ate paint chips as a kid because you are extremely stupid and
2. You didn't say top contender in the east, you said Top Contender! You're wrong on both anyways, East or the entire NHL, the Leafs are not a top contender. |

Sorry Simple, ill lay it out for you, you have never witnessed your team winning a stanley cup. I have witnessed my team win 5, not including the fact that my team has also been to the finals within the last decade, but go ahead and keep telling us about that ferrarri of a team you got lol. |

Winning cups back when the Leafs were, it's like winning Grey cups in the CFL. Too few teams you should win one every 5 years at least if you're even a mildly competent organization. |

Look just because you think you, your average (at best) HB poster, knows hockey better than the Team Canada braintrust, doesn't make it so. Some of the best minds in the game thought Nurse =/= Team Canada caliber. Now some here claim to know better and call him a surefire Norris winner.
- prock
Who called him that?
My argument with you is that you cite his omission from Team Canada as indicative of his NHL future....which is stupid. |

Oilers do indeed suck.....but that hasn't negate the fact that the Leafs from missing the playoffs 10 of the last 11 years. |

What gets people wound up is that most of the things I post are completely true and can be fully supported. Call it trolling if you like, but that’s what really gets to them.
Jaeckel or whatever called Anderson a “really good” goalie the other day. Sens fans call it a great signing.
If some tried to claim Bernier/Varlamov/Bobrovski were better goalies, you’d get the argument that they’re unproven.
Anderson is 33 years old. He’s never played more than 31 games and posted a sv% better than .917 in the same season.
33 years old and “unproven”. Now tell me he’s a “very good goalie”.
They can’t come up with a good argument against that, and it pisses them off. - prock
It's funny that you say your posts are completely true yet you go and say something completely false about the number of games Anderson has played in a season.

So why do the leafs StI'll have the second most cups by a fairly wide margin their was six teams why didn't those other teams except montreal dominate and win so much. Christ they haven't won a cup in 47 years. |

Maybe because there was no draft until 69 and the Leafs and Habs had an advantage signing young players through sponsorship's? |

Then why did Chicago only win 3? Bruins only 4? Rangers only 3? I thought winning 10+ would be so easy? |

True but 90% of the best hockey players come from Canada and wanted to sign their C cards with the Leafs and Habs. |

This blog had good intentions I think - or at least neutral ones.
While I value analytics and I'm impressed by the hires of both clubs, it's a little naive to believe one team or the other will get better because of them to a significant degree. They'll be tools that these teams use, but likely what's already in place - and more importantly what other teams are doing/failing to do - will dictate how they perform in the go ahead.
I like Prock more than Doppleganger because he actually responds to the arguments others are making, but it's worth noting that he never ever admits to being wrong about anything. I mean, you'd figure with all the posting a guy does about many diverse topics throughout the years, he'd admit that he wasn't completely correct about something every once in a while. That gets me wondering. |
