No one has seen enough of players to make a real top prospect list that is anything but guessing. The fact is, each team, player, blogger and fan will overrate their own prospects.
I think Druin will be a star player, but will he get the minutes on a stacked Lightning forward group that Domi will get in Az? I mean, i guess we could just talk the prospect list as factual and not write anything at all, but where would the fun in that be? - James_Tanner
The point was you thought he has the potential of being 100 point player. Which mean he would be top five or top three player in nhl. I was saying that is so unrealistic. Considering he isnt even top prospect. If you look at the top five players they were all one of the top prospects before they came out. So you cant expect a domi to meet ur expectations. He will top out at 60-70 and that is still a very good player and be top 6 on any team but will most likely be around 50-60 point player. |

Eventually I'd think that would be the plan. However he's a LW and you'd think he'd start the year behind Palat and Kilorn. - stormey
Quite sure he gets an early look next to Stamkos. |

If they weren't a Cup Contending team, I'd say for sure, but the Lightning have a shot to win so I can't see them handing a top line job to a rookie. However, he's potentially amazing, so its a possibility. |

You said Hanzel is gonna be the last #1 centre and then go on to predict what Gagne would do as the last #1 centre...one of them isn't gonna get top line minutes so adjust your math. As for Domi if he goes the entire season without being sent to the ahl I will be very surprised. Tibbet likes veterans who can play his system. The moment Domi's growing pains (which every rookie has) negativly effect the team he will find himself parked on the bench or on a plane to an ahl city.
If your relying on Sam Gagne to be the good #2 centre he couldn't be in Edmonton AND Max Domi to have a 20g 50pts season to make the playoffs you're in for a long wake up call...good luck! You're gonna need it! |

What is this....a pretty intelligent post....it seems like just a few months ago you were spouting off some the internets dumbest posts ever.
Glad to see you have changed your ways. Solid post. |

I had to LOL when I heard "I fully expect domi to win the calder".
I wish it had been written earlier in the article so I could have stopped sooner.
Ok, Domi is probably going to be a very good player. How good, well see. An NHL player, probably 2nd line, maybe 1st line, but we'll see.
It's a homeristic man-crush to go out and blantantly say " I fully expect him to win", especially when guys like Druin, Ekblad, Reinhart, guys drafted higher will be taking the stage this season. Seriously, use some logic.
And I'm not going to slam the yotes, I'm impressed with what they do with the cast they have. But you take out two top point getters (and not even that great, for being top point getters) and I don't know how anyone expects them to take a step forward without some infusion of new talent or development from the rookies. |

Especially when he will potentially be competing with Ekblad, Nurse, Reinhart (x2), Draisaitl, Johhny Gudreau, Jonathan Drouin and about 20 other young men with way more talent and ability.

Actually that doesn't make for a weak argument at all. See, what actually happens is just one of many probabilities and one of the biggest weaknesses by analysts the world over, no matter what it is they are analyzing, is to place too much emphasis on what actually occurred, thus creating a bias towards events dependent on variables no more or less likely to repeat themselves than ones that would have altered reality in the first place.
So, yes, not only is it plausible to base an argument on what could have been, it is very much more often the better way to do things. - James_Tanner
Ok, let's see if I got your logic down, we'll use Gagner as an example during the 2014 season:
Outcome A- Gagner finishes with >50 PTs.
Outcome B- Gagner finishes with <50 PTs.
Outcome C- Gagner finishes with <50 PTs but missed significant games.
Outcome A has never occurred in 7 chances(seasons), a 0% occurrence rate
Outcome B has occurred in all 7 seasons, or 100% occurrence rate
Outcome C has occurred in 2 of 7 seasons so about 29% occurrence
And from this Objective information you draw the conclusion that his chances of having a career season are even higher this year? I think your problem is you confuse logic and rational thought with the simple whims/wishes of a fan.
You certainly have to be a fan of your team to be their blogger but nobody will take you seriously if you also can't differentiate between the two.

Very succinctly stated. I seem to have a difficult time expressing those same or similar thoughts without berating or condescending to. Nicely done.
