protein C deficiency = lifelong anticoagulation

we did see his last game then

- Marc D

Is that 100% though? Or speculation.

Edit: Correct me if I am wrong but anti-coagulation is auto contradict physical activity. As in heavy physical activity with risk of bruising, or trauma that can cause the clot to break free.

Just depends on the severity though no?

It's gone, dude.

I called Penn Transit and The Fresh Grocer. Both found nothing. If the city of brotherly love mantra holds up, some low life degenerate took it. Plan is to talk to a manager to see if I can watch security footage. I can name pretty much the exact time I lost it, I think.

So, that really (frank)ing sucks. A lot. Like a whole (frank)ing lot. I'm actually really upset. Hardly talked to anyone all day. I'm scared honestly. Focused exactly none all day since this was on my conscience, and then the only bright spot I had all day was 3:00 when I had plans to see my better half, and something came up. She had to split from campus. So the rug came out of my feet there. Normally I wouldn't give a poop, but today, it really sucked. Been drinking since 5.

I'd have to believe you can protect more then that. That's pretty much exposing over half of the team to the draft.
- MJL

Youre right. 2000 was 5 D. 9fwrds and 1 G or 3D 7fwrds 2G.

However with the league looking for more parity. I could see them trimming that.

Theoretically. ..
In case of an expansion draft you can protect Mason + 7 fwrds and 3 D or 6 fwrds and 4 D.

Who are you protecting?

Assuming all prospects are protected, not sure how those rules work.

Giroux. Voracek. Couturier. Schenn. Simmonds. Read
Coburn Streit Macdonald Schenn

In 2000, teams could protect 9 forwards, 5 defensemen & one goalie OR two goalies, three defensemen & seven forwards.

From wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/w.../2000_NHL_Expansion_Draft

26 of the 28 teams existing in the league at the time of the draft were each allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards. The Atlanta Thrashers and Nashville Predators had their entire rosters protected, as they were the two newest franchises in the league, only being in existence for one and two years respectively.

For teams protecting only one goaltender, there was no experience requirement for those left unprotected. For teams protecting two goaltenders, each goaltender left unprotected must have appeared in either 10 NHL games in the 1999–2000 season or 25 games in the 1998–99 season and 1999–2000 seasons combined. A goaltender had to be in net for at least 31 minutes in each game for the game to be counted against these totals.

At least one defenceman left unprotected by each team had to have appeared in at least 40 games in the 1999–2000 season or 70 games in the 1998–99 season and 1999–2000 seasons combined. At least two forwards left unprotected by each team had to have met the same requirements.

52 players were chosen in the draft, two from each participating franchise. Only one goaltender or one defenseman could be selected from each franchise. Both the Blue Jackets and the Wild were to use their first 24 selections on three goaltenders, eight defensemen, and thirteen forwards. The final two picks for each team could be any position.

That would likely mean the bulk of the Flyers prospects would be exempt, so protecting guys like Laughton, Morin, Sanheim & Gostisbehere would be a moot point, unless they played this season.

But assuming it's 7, 3 & 1 I would go:

Forwards: Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Simmonds, Read, Schenn, Raffl
Defense: Coburn, Streit, Schenn
Goalie: Mason.

If it was 9 forwards, I'd add whichever two of Akeson, Laughton or Bellemare that played enough games to require protection.

The additional defensemen would be Del Zotto and MacDonald

In the past, any player w/ 2 or fewer pro (includes minor pro) seasons were safe. If the draft happened tomorrow, all of our good prospects would be exempt. If it happens 2-3 years from now, which is more likely, guys like Hagg, Stolarz, Laughton, Ghost, etc would need to be protected.

It would really suck if a NMC forced a team to protect a player and lose a protection slot.

It would.

Hes the newly appointed whipping boy but he will be a critical player for the Flyers.

Hes also being pigeon holed and written off way too early in his career.

It's was always going to Vegas/KC/Seattle to balance out the conferences... then, probably a relocation or a fold/expansion scenario to revive QC or Hartford.

I imagine in two years the Flyers have a great core and are a Cup contender only to have Las Vegas select Giroux and bobby ryab.

Yep. Supporting the puck and providing good passing options can not only give teams a much better 5 on 5 game, they can also make a slow team look a lot faster. It also helps to prevent a team from skating up ice into a NZ trap and face no other option but to dump the puck in.

I think once you are on the anticoagulants the clots stabilize so they won't embolize and then you can do certain activities.

But not contact sports.

A head shot on anticoagulation meds could lead to a brain hemorrhage.

Head coach Craig Berube's response to veteran center Vincent Lecavalier hearing his name in trade rumors all summer?

“Get over it.”

Hopefully Berube's coaching doesn't lead to Flyers fans saying, I hope we win the lottery and that our new coach doesn't suck

That would be nice wouldnt it. I actually dont mind Berube. I dont think we will win a cup with him but I think he is a coach that can teach good habits to our forwards and maybe actually get them to come back.

I don't especially like him as head coach, but I do agree he's stressing the right things over the summer, with demanding guys show up in shape and be ready to go.

My concerns are more with his in game/line up decisions and balanced approach to holding guys accountable. I don't want to go as far as saying that they won in spite of him, but I don't think he was so great that he was a catalyst for the rebound.

I'm glad someone else said this first. During the season he was praised as being a straight shooter but some of the comments I've heard over the summer made by him just makes him sound like a meathead.
