You gotta have a guy playing with your star who is willing to go to battle for him. Can you say Kreider has that ability? Okposo has shown this past year and change that he can flip the switch and go if need be. That's a big factor when playing with a top player in the league who gets cheap shots game in and game out.
- kindlyrick

Yea kreider does. He's fought phaneuf and tossed upshall or kopecky because they slashed stepan. Kreider out of nowhere got the mean streak and I love it

I think okposo has better hands, better shot, and better hockey iq than kreider but kreiders size and strength coupled with his speed and skating makes him lethal. Some scouts say kreider could be the fastest skater in the league going a straight line which is crazy for someone his size.

JT > Stepan
Nash > Okposo

This is just based on talent. But of the pairings, I'm taking JT and KO over Nash and Stepan. Not because I'm an isles fan, I just think JT and KO have a good combination of skill, grit and heart. Nash and Stepan are all skill.

- kindlyrick

I think you have to take JT and a traffic cone over Nash and Stepan. JT alone is that good.

Are we seriously thinking a quickly depreciating at just 30 yrs old Nash right now is better than a rising 26 year old in KO? I'd watch Nash more closely bc right now slowing down. KO filling his role incredibly. Whether one career better than other seems silly bc Okposo is 4 yrs behind but if you think Nash is still elite....

All you have to do is talk to a NY ranger fan.

Was there even a discussion on Stepan vs Tavares???

Cmonnnnn mannnn

A few of the rangers fans trolled the islanders fans into a debate over JT vs stepan. The isles fans still think it was serious and always bring it up.

Kreider has wheels for sure, but I'd literally bet any amount of money that Grabner could beat him.

That being said. Kreider > Grabner

Yeah well Hagelin is my favorite. He's tenacious as (frank). ALWAYS on the puck. I still think Grabner is the fastest guy in league.

Grabs is definitely faster. Kreider probably has better hands. Though to be fair, just about everyone who posts on this BOARD has better hands than Grabner.

grabner's added some shootout moves. Into the chest, into the corner have now been upgraded to into the chest, into the corner, and into the pads.

Kreider has better skating but I don't know about strength. KO is the most athletic player on the Isles, he just has a huge upper body.

Didn't say he was stronger than Okposo, just that his strength with his size and speed is what makes him such an effective top 6 forward. Although there are videos of Kreider deadlifting 530 lbs and jumping out of pools.

Thats bcs the ranger fans were serious until they realized just how stupid they sounded. Dont bend reality. I understand your embarrassment but you guys were serious. You yourself said Stepan would be a consistent 40 goal scorer which should exceed JT's output.

He attains a huge rate of speed right before he crashes into goalies.

This was one of those ridiculous arguments that some Ranger troll managed to drag a couple of these guys into a while back.

So getting back to your need for a veteran top 4 defensemen, let me just ask who would be your top three wishes based on who may be available (e.g. see Boston or Chicago) and would the Islanders/Snow offer for each? As a Hawks fan, if Oduya is one of the three, please don't add any contract over $1 million as it simply cannot happen unless we broaden the trade discussion (e.g., Oduya and Sharp for.... ).
Just curious....

Depends on who's really available from both teams or any other team. But if Isles/Snow are only going to give up something more significant the player has to be signed longer than this year, if its a rental type player (1yr left) don't expect much in return.

Boychuk. Perfect fit. From the Hawks, Oduya but I don't like the idea of giving up a prospect, and I expect the Hawks don't want a third round pick

**assuming you want one of our good prospects.
