Anyone else notice Ek has got the Hawks possibly inviting Leino to camp...

meanwhile we await the cap cutting move.

That's rough, but it's not like we haven't seen Toews laying there like that. Except Toews gets up on his own.

And he has 2 Stanley Cups. Backes is just dreaming. Toews is remembering fondly.

One of the few reasons losing to the Kings was ok.... Daryl, Chris and the clan....

That would be interesting and if it's true it tips Stan's hand on how he plans to get cap compliant (i.e. trading a forward instead of a defenseman).

The only way he raises the chalice is in the Indian Head sweater. Can you photo-shop that into the pic?

I know, I know, many here think he's a bag of d!cks. But think about his physical play aside from the shenanigans and he'd be a good fit.

Love to read the forum, you guys make me laugh from time to time

I do what I can. I LOVE Seabrook and feel like he's always overlooked because of the great Keith. Yet I watch this guy take a pass with a guy bearing down on him and somehow make the correct read and get it out. Keith is VERY lucky to have #7 there. Keith is a great player, but pairing up with Seabrook allows him to elevate his game to another level.

And if Crawford wasnt given $6 per WAYYY earlier than he should have, we would have more room too

Lets admit, if Crawford went into this past season without an extension, and the same results happened, .917 sv pct, 2.26 GAA, loss in game 7 of WCF vs LAK, would he really be looking at more than the 6x6 we gave him with a NMC/Modified NTC?

I dont think so, the only reason we should have gave him a contract then is if he was giving us a deal, and im not sure anyone calls it that

- FourFeathers773

Well....Crawford got a Jimmy Howard like deal with a kicker for winning the Cup and he is better.

Not really going to second guess Crawford signing...That's not recent history. I have a strong feeling Richards would have taken $300k less and that happened after the salary cap was known.

Here's the thing that is interesting..
Unless Cap Geek is wrong and they aren't usually, the only single player who could be logically dealt for picks/prospects to solve the cap issue is Leddy.

That said Leddy is the most valuable trade chip out of the bunch that could be dealt and it seems like the time to do so was a lot earlier in the summer.

My belief is Bowman didn't paint himself into a corner...or at least I will give benefit of the doubt for now... But if Brad Richards would have been signed for $300k less Bowman would have had more options.

Very solid point and cap geek is usually dead nuts on.

The one move makes sense and gives this team the best chance to go for it all this year and worry about next year in June.

I think it's Leddy vs Oduya, and Oduya's willingness to sign a team friendly deal is the 100000000 lb elephant in the room.

If Stan trades Rozsival and goes with a roster of 22 then he has $877,372 to sign or promote a 7th defenseman. Of all the options available trading trading Rozsival, a part time defenseman, makes the most sense. This way the 13 forwards, 6 dmen (including Rundblad) and 2 goalies remain intact. Stan can use this season to determine if Oduya or Leddy stays Beijing this year. If Stan wants to trade Leddy he'll get a solid return now or after next season.
- DarthKane

Agree only if trading Rozsival solved the entire issue. The Hawks have avoided playing a 22 man roster in the past when they were very tight to the cap. So not sure that will be their solution.

I think Oduya is almost a cinch to stay and at this point trading Leddy isn't likely.

When u want to compete for the Cup every year and you spend to the Cap sometimes players walk....That's a cost of doing business in the hard cap world.

Bowman went out of his way last year to bring back the entire defense. Leddy didn't take a big step forward and Rozsival took 2 steps back but it is not easy to fill those spots with Ice Hogs.

C'mon, you must be having visions of the Rozsival from 3+ seasons ago, or the one from 2 seasons ago where, in spite of his rapidly advancing years he helped bring a CUP home.

The Rozsival of 2013 season is DONE. He spent more time on the sidelines and I recall more situations of Leddy's speed bailing out #32 more often than not.

I'd be all-in for shipping him off to Dallas and worry another day that he will come back to haunt you. #32 turns 36 in a few weeks. I'd worry FAR LESS about him coming back to haunt us than a 23 year old guy that is far from done in his development. Or a soon-to-be 33 year old with a few less hard miles on his odometer.

- savvyone-1

I'm sorta serious

I watched a LOT of that Dallas-Anaheim series. Dallas was a VERY tough out. They very could be THIS year's Colorado if Lehtonen doesn't pee himself, which I don't think he will. He has stoned the Hawks in games over the years. Big guy, very athletic doesn't give up a lot of bad goals.

Benn, seguin, Spezza (contract year) and Hemsky. That's a LOT of fire power. They don't need any stable D men. Why make your division any harder then necessary?

I do agree Rozsival could this year's Handzus and better not play a LOT. Save this guy for the playoffs. Veteran d men who don't kill you in the bottom pair are very underrated in the playoffs. I don't need to watch a Matt Walker_Cam barker pair again. If I do, I might be sent to a program.

Heres the sad thing....even if the Hawks bust tail, win the division and technically get a wild card....you still will get a STL/Minny/Dallas and probably Colorado team. I don't see any NON Pacific team over taking those teams this year. So maybe Colorado is the weaker of that bunch? But by how much?

Point is...I'd love to see the Hawks be smart about regular season ice time with the core guys. I want this team to win, but to kill your core and tax them to get 2 pts in February is asinine IMO. Get hot the last 20 games, figure out your lines and d pairings AND STICK WITH THEM, and ride that wave.

last team that did that? LA....and they had a pretty nice end to their season.

That's a fair point, but who goes?

I just don't see the logic in trading Versteeg. yeah, did he have a great year? NO. NO he didn't. However, the low risk/high reward for an ample depth guy at a very friendly cap hit is too much to give up on.

Hawks have zero size so cross off Frankenstein (bickell)

Sharp? I don't see it. Not now. In June? Sure...but unless somebody suffers a major injury, and even then Sharp has to accept, I just don't see it.

Rozsival? Who takes that ENTIRE cap hit? probably have to sweeten with a highly rated prospect, that the hawks are sour on. Cledenning?

When I was talking to Stan at an event we held last Thursday he told me they were going to make one move. I asked him of the Nick Leddy rumor and he smirked and said we have to make one move. Take that for what it is.

I don't like the old ones better, but I don't like the new ones really either. Was hoping for more. These are basically the jerseys from 10 years ago. Most Blues fans already have a jersey very similar hanging in their closet.

Laughing about a guy knocked out on the ice after a bad headshot is not funny. I don't care if it is a rival.

Agreed

I would hope blues fans would run any Blue that puts a hit on any player like Seabrook did to Backes out of town.
