I vividly remember that night I stayed up against my mother's wishes to watch the Hawks road game versus the Oakland Seals ...where Carol Vadnais and Keith Magnuson fought three times.

I guess they will be going 3 time a night in the hereafter...

(frank)ing blown 2-goal lead and (frank)ing blown late 3rd period lead.

Game was lost long before Leddy blew the play and got hit.

The SERIES was lost because of terrible special team play. THAT was the difference in the series.

I was trying to make Nester happy.

I appreciate the effort. Though. I have never blamed Leddy for losing the series or even that play in particular. It was a microcosm of all of Nick LeddyOrr's faults inside his own blue line.

PP was OK - 4-11 in the last 3 games (not very good in the first 4 - only 2-13 ).

PK was also terrible in the first four: 7-12 success rate (much better last three - 6-7).

I would say bad special teams helped dig the hole, but helped them climb out of it in games 5/6/7.

It wasn't the overall numbers but when they occurred that made the difference in my view.

Game 2 - yes - two PKGA early in the third.

Game 3 - no - only in the first.

Game 4 - no - two in the first of a blow-out.

Game 7 - no (killed both penalties).

They gave up 11 even-strength goals in the first four game (out of 16 total) and 11 in the last three games (out of 12 total). Bad defense (from the forwards, defensemen, and goalie) was the problem - couldn't hold leads, couldn't put the Kings away.

Maggy put Vadnais's schnoz next to his ear.
