Hey JJ,
great blog as always...also really enjoyed the podcast with Ek the other day.
I'm assuming it'll be Leddy as well...you're going to need Oduya and that second pairing set if you're going to make a run at it here before they move some more of the core.
A far as TT - he definitely needs time in Rockford. No need to rush the kid let him adjust to the way the game is played here in the states. |

This blog post feels like a complete strawman. Create a point to argue against - "Teravainen should be playing a significant role from puck drop in October" - and then rail against it. All without providing any links/evidence of people actually saying that. - BreakoutHockey
Go read Blackhawk Up. Then come back. There's at least one other blog that's been pushing him as 2C also. So, yeah, you're wrong in that assessment.
I do apologize if you didn't catch all of the "banter" on this topic on twitter a couple of months ago. But there are a lot of "fans" at least running around with this notion. |

Reason #6
We need TT's cap hit write-off to make up part of the 2.2M shortfall. |

Smaller ice sheet, more hitting. He's 19. I've already heard the argument today, "so was Kane" when he broke in, but Kane had played his whole life in NA, and the 2007 Hawks were not the 2014 Hawks. Not even close. |

1) Lower salaried, solid NHL player OR projectable prospect with upside
AND
2) 2nd round pick
Something like that - John Jaeckel
Leddy is at $2.7, I think - really squeezing it to get any roster player back.
If TT goes down, and Lexdy gets moved, they would have to go with a 22 (or 21) man roster. |

Yep - Stan can't take much back for him for that reason alone.
It would be a prospect and a pick if he goes IMO. If the Hawks bring salary back, you would have to expect a 2nd, corresponding trade to follow. |

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I get the sense that Blackhawk Up is just making an arguement as a "devil's advocate" type of approach.
Most of the stuff I've seen regarding TT points to him starting in Rockford. But given that it's a terribly dull time of year for hockey and Chicago has to make a move there will be lots of chatter about various options and scenarios. People make make a case as to why it might be a good idea for TT to start in Chicago, but I think the consensus is that he shouldn't.
Also, can Teuvo's contract slide another year? His contract as slid one year already, but if he can slide one more year that's another benefit to him playing in Rockford. It's not a reason to keep Teuvo in Rockford, but it's a benefit given the changes this team will start to experience next season. |

Here on HB the threads were long with the impending arrival of our savior. It was real easy to jump on that bandwagon. Very few of us ever saw him play and were going off the top prospect lists in the NHL. All I can say is he made a sweet move from behind his own net and seemed to have good vision on the ice while up with the Hawks. Sure prior to Richards he was all we had (in some minds). Makes the Richards signing even more impressive since the Hawks want him to have a little more time and mature. I did hear he has hit 180lb so his head seems to be where it needs to be.

Mark McNeill is more nhl ready that TT and McNeill has not got the love he deserves for a strong rookie pro season. McNeill has size and skill and is a big body that makes for good nhl career. Second liner at best, third liner at worst imo.

McNeill is the prospect I am most looking forward to seeing at the NHL level. |

Kevin Hayes for me.
He's big, great season at BC.
You won't be able to keep him at Rockford.
Or even get him there. |

He and Dahlbeck, to my eye, are the most projectable right now. Neither will be top guys. Both should be solid to very good NHL'ers. The Hawks could use what McNeill will be right now. Don't think he's quite rady for that yet however.
You COULD also see Philip Danault if say Kruger went down. And that's assuming Danault makes progress on face-offs. |

Really? - John Jaeckel
I see those type of articles all the time. "5 reasons the Blackhawks should do this" or "10 reasons the Blackhawks should do that". In all honesty I never take them seriously, they're just an entertaining read at most. |

Indeed
I'll just say, there has been a lot of TT-Mania in Chicago the last several months that is just not realistic. I'll leave it at that. |

Maybe as an injury call-up, but I don't see him starting on the team. Maybe if Stan makes a couple moves (i.e. trades a forward and a defenseman) Nordstrom gets a shot. |

Assuming no forward moves before October 9:
Morin skating, Shaw at center, Regin in the pess box? |

If there are no moves at forward I would guess the last forward spot would be a rotation between Regin and Morin. Whomever establishes himself in the most valuable role will end up with more ice time. |

If they trade Leddy I HIGHLY doubt they will take back money. More like a pick and prospect. Move Dahlbeck up, send Teuvo done....and you still have something like 787K in cap space.
Regin is versatile enough to play W or C. You have Rundblad as your 7th D man. that gives you a 22 man roster.
that would be my guess. |
