No. Expansion fees go ENTIRELY to the owners, which is completely insane and yet another reason why anyone who supports the owners in their neverending series of lockouts is equally insane. The players don't see a cent of that money. - BreakoutHockey
More players get the opportunity to make big money. But the existing players get nothing. |

he's the best skater I have ever seen. Period.
Keith is fast, but Keith is a very painful skater to watch. Very choppy. Leddy is a rocket. - SteveRain
Mark Messier and Bobby Hull say hi. Not to mention the Richard brothers. |

Moving the goal post again? Please. How can a player who has been playing the game since he was a wee one NOT know that firing the puck around the boards after his end to end rush is the wrong thing to do?
Morgan Reilly is 20 and already a much better player than Nick Leddy. - Elbows15
Nope. Not moving the goal post.
Firing the puck around the boards IS a play, have used it many times. Problem is when the rest of your team is either too slow or not on the same page. A puck fired around CAN be a great play, picked up by a forechecking forward on the opposite side but that wing and the center have to know/expect it and know what to do.
And the wing on the D's side deep MUST stay back.
From what I've seen, this has seldom happened. Puck goes in, puck goes around and comes back out while 3 forwards are all driving in. Any wonder they are caught with pants down most times? |

Its not a wonder. Its the wrong play. To begin with, he put himself in a terrible position. He is already eliminated from the play. And this is where understanding the game comes into play. It highlights his total lack of on ice awareness and piss-poor decision making.
Well, the wing staying back is not a problem because he left him in the dust. At least according to you.
Now. When does Leddy understand what to do in his own end of the ice? Because even Bobby Orr had to play in his own zone.
Edit: moving the goal post in regards to his age and games played Savvy. And Rielly is younger and better. |

Come on 66. Hull would skate over or around guys. And no one's skates ever made the same sound as Messier's. You could hear his stride in the 1st balcony.
Also. You did see Leddy get beat to the puck by Stoll a couple of time in the LA series, right? |

But - if the HRR from the new teams aren't there (and for the first few years they probably won't equal what the other 30 teams bring in), the cap will not go up as much as it would have without the new teams - the cap could conceivably go down if the right markets aren't chosen. |

Apparently Brookbank will be at Calgary's camp.
http://prohockeytalk.nbcs...ted-to-try-out-brookbank/
Not that this has anything to do with Brookbank specifically, but boy, the Hawks are really dragging their feet in getting under the cap. - prd797
Perhaps Bowman isn't dragging his feet? It could be that Bowman hasn't been able to move the guy that he wants to move? Or maybe he's not getting enough of an offer in return for who he is willing to move?
Mrpaulish threw an idea at me weeks ago - maybe Bowman is waiting for an injury during camp where some GM gets desperate to acquire a replacement player? |

I think Stan is doing the right thing by waiting and I'm sure he has a few options available. Teams (including the Blackhawks) may not be certain about their rosters until they see how their prospects perform in camp. I'd like to have Brookbank back, but it won't break the team not to have him. |

Perhaps. No way to know for certain.
Obviously I'd rather see the trade over and done with sooner rather than later.
For me anyway, I'll have one of Steeg or Roszival gone, please and thanks. |

>-----you win Elbows. I get it. You hate the guy.
>-----one of 2 things happens:
1. he is traded and we watch from a distance to see what happens
2. Stanley keeps him with the club to at least start the season
If alternative 2 happens, we will quickly see what Q has in store and whether Leddy is going to be any more than he is today with this club.
My hope: Nick gets traded. If that happens, we'll see who is right. I agree with "SOME" of what you say but certainly not all of it -- hence the reason there is no ability to have any kind of conversation with you about Nick. |

Agree Hull and Messier could and would skate right through guys. And I'm not knocking them. But there is a big difference between a powerful skater and a power skater. Rene Borque was the worst powerskater along with Nylander i had seen. But Borque powers his way to the net. He is your classic straight ahead skater. Bobby Hull dragged one of his legs when he turned with the puck. Messier was a good powerskater. But "powerskating" is a technique. And leddy is textbook. I have seen in juniors and AAA hockey guys that could fly, very good powerskaters that did not have a clue how to play hockey. They chased the play all night long. Leddy playing defense has the advantage of the puck coming to him. (thats why Buff likes to play D) I agree Leddy needs to learn how to be more effective with and without the puck. I just am apparently a little more patient than you. |

And 66, clearly you remember some other guys in their younger days. I don't know if I ever swore any more than when 2 and 7 were getting their trial by fire the 1st few years. Much of that angst (especially with #2) has stayed with me all these years.

I used to rip on Seabrook for his stride. He used to be prone to getting his weight too forward and toe pick multiple times a game. Then a few years ago in the first preseason game I noticed him visibly trying to extend his stride and especially bend his knees so to keep his weight back on his heels. It was obvious to me he was working on it. While he will never be a great skater (me thinks it's why he was left off the Olympic team) I haven't seen him stumble or toe pick much anymore and if he does it's because he's under pressure. I think he's come a long way and deserves credit for making the effort. |

Keith and Leddy do not play anything close to a similar style. People need to stop comparing the two.
Leddy could never, even if he realized all his supposed potential, play a top pairing shutdown role. Which Keith has. Also. For all the crap Keith takes from Hawk fans, let's not forget Duncan (frank)ing Keith is a top pairing D-man on Team Canada, Leddy will never be a top pairing D-man on any team. - Elbows15
Somebody finally put it in perspective.
It probably takes Keith going down for half a season for people to appreciate what #2 means to the Hawk's backend. |

The only Olympic team Seabrook couldn't make was Team Canada. Pretty tough when you have Weber, Doughty, Pietrangelo all as right handed shots and the pressure from the media to pick PK Subban too, who ended being the water boy anyway. |
