I just hope he stays outta his car when he's using or drinking. By all means do what you want with your life, just don't get into your car and endanger others. - Artyukhin76
What makes it worse is I believe NFL, NHL, and MLB provide car service for them if they are intoxicated free of charge. |

Say he makes the team, where does he fit in?
Sid-Kunitz-Duper
Malkin-Horny-Bennett
Sutter-Downie-Goc
Comeau-Spaling-?
Looks like one spot open for:
Malone, Megna, Adams, Payerl.
Malone doesn't strike me as a 3rd/4th line guy. I don't seem to remember him being anything other than average defensively. Plus, his wheels may be an issue.
Finally, don't think he's a PK option if memory serves.
As a WBS depth signing, count me in. For a roster spot out of camp, I'll pass.
PLus, we only have 900+ in cap space for in season and deadline deals. Keep that in mind.. |

Low risk high reward on a guy who could play dirty minutes on either of the top-two lines if he is healthy.
I like Adams along with some of the young guys, but if we could get Malone (or Penner for that matter) for a league minimum deal to play power forward on one of the top two lines, what does it hurt? You'd have Hornqvist on one line and Malone (or Penner) on the either.
Worst case he isn't up to a top-six and you get another good guy for depth. I know he is removed from his UFA years but I still think he is worth a shot. |

If you signed Malone or Penner you could do soemthing like:
Sid-Kunitz-Malone
Malkin-Horny-Bennett
Sutter-Downie-Duper
Comeau-Goc-Spaling
I am sure this is going to be seen as a downgrade but what if Malone could do the dirty work in the corners. If that doesn't work flip-flop Duper and Malone.

I guess I'd rather have the $930K in cap space for the deadline and whatnot. |

I think you bring him in to add competition. If he stinks you let him walk nothing gained nothing loss if I understand tryouts correctly. If he sticks well now you are forced to deal with the Adams situation they keep overlooking. |

If he would pan out you could split him and Hornqvist up on the top two lines and have legit net front guys on each line. I don't see Malone being a good fit on 3rd and fourth lines. |
|
|
|
Just takes away the chance of a younger player making the team. With the amount of players trying to make the team, Malone really wouldn't add anymore competition. It's time to let the kids develop and even if Malone does look somewhat good enough for the 3rd or 4th line, id still rather have a youngster filling that spot and there are plenty who can do it |

I don't see why it would be a problem to give him a tryout. If Payerl or Uher or whichever young player beats him out, so be it. If he comes in and is healthy and ready to work then its a nice little steal. You can never have too much depth.
Obligatory blow joke |
|
|

Only for a one-year, two-way, league-minimum contract. And even then I'd have to think about it. |

If Malone would come to a tryout I think he would be trying out for a top 6 role anyway. Payerl, Uher, Sundqvist, Adams and whoever else are competing for 4th line duty when the team is healthy. I see no reason not to invite Malone to camp. |

I like Sundqvist a lot, but I don't think he is physically matured to play at this level yet. From what I read on him he still needs another year or two of development and about 20lbs.

Like I said earlier, a tryout wouldn't bother me.... But I can't see it happening. I don't think that there is one person in the hockey operations department that was here when Malone was (besides Mario). So, it's not like there will be anyone who owes him a favor if no one else invites him, or whatever.

Malone used to play well with Geno. He's a kind of player we don't really have on our roster. I'm only afraid he might have become another Taylor Pyatt |
