“really” good? I don’t know about that. He’s one of the streakiest goalies around. But he’s 33, and he’s never played more than 31 games and managed a save % better than .917 in a single season. That hardly screams world beater to me. He’s not a bad goalie, and has had some good stretches, but has never had a single FULL season of above average play. He definitely has had some partial seasons, or full seasons as backup, where he’s played like a top goalie though.

It's easier to say "3 years with 4.2 cap hit" than saying "4.75 for the first two years and 3.1 for the final year".

Lehner has 61 nhl games under his belt ,he needs to learn some more .Andy is a pretty good goaltender ,and the team already knows him .So why try and find a replacement,the 3 year extension ends just as Lehner is up for his contract(RFA).So it works
