I've heard- Past Tense
I hear- Present Tense
I will hear- Future Tense
I said that he has used the system as "the reason" (to use your words) in other blogs when it was more suited to the point he was trying to make.
Do you just try to twist around what I'm saying because you feel like arguing with me? Honestly, I feel like you're messing with me... - njdevils350
"To be honest, your logic with Greene and Fayne appears to be very circular."
"If the system itself is an explanation for lack of offensive production then how can it also be an explanation for lack of defensive stability?"
Your exact quotes referring to this blog(present tense). I'm not twisting your words I'm saying you're wrong |

What concerns me the most is not just these shabby numbers, but the reality that we'll be throwing at least 2 or 3 rookies on the back end. Having those green kids learn from these sorts of players doesn't inspire much confidence. - jackzack87
Not exactly "green" but it all depends on if you see the team scoring more or not. Most of these bad numbers come from us being a bad 5v5 team, so the numbers are obviously going to suffer |

Guys I think you are arguing semantics. I think the issue is that Todd said "low scoring" and I think it is being interpreted as the "Low event" system that PDB puts on the ice, that is often mentioned, and I think Todd meant more along the lines of "our offence couldn't score for poop last year so it makes the defense's GF/GA ratio look stupid." Maybe I am wrong but that makes sense to me. |

Thats what I'm saying, the system we play has nothing to do with the blog |

OK. Whatever you say.
There's nothing wrong with that at all. It's actually a fact rather than an opinion. It's a fact that he has ( in the past) explained away poor offense by pointing to the system. It's also a fact that he's explaining away poor defense by pointing to the system (and the lack of goal scoring)
Circular.
He is (probably unintentionally) tending to shape his analysis to fit his arguments rather than looking at it completely objectively.
I really don't feel like explaining it another 4-5 times. So, I'll just let this one go. |

The word system is not used once in the blog, he's also not saying they play poor defense

I don't disagree. That's actually part of the point I'm trying to make. The offense is never going to score a ton of goals. He knows that. Or he should know that. He's a smart kid.
So, therefore, If the low-event style will throw off the numbers he's trying to chart and make them "look stupid"
Then don't chart them. Scrap the idea because you see the flaw. You see how it's going to make everything look skewed.
Don't chart it and then preferentially explain it away. That's not journalism.
Particularly if you've written other blogs in the past that literally flip the exact same thing the other way around to paint the other side in a better light. |

When he says "low scoring team" and I reference the "system", that is the same thing. I know that Websters Dictionary wouldn't define them the same way, but since I connect them, it may as well mean the same thing for our intents and purposes.
In an older blog he has made the argument that the fact that the forwards have low scoring numbers has to do with the system they play
Read that line again.
I took what he wrote in this blog and I put it into some context.
I'm sorry you don't see how everything connects here. I really loathe the idea of having to explain the same thing 4 times. Either you don't understand the connections I'm making here or you're just messing with me.
Either way, I don't know what you want me to tell you. |

Which is wrong. When he says "low scoring team" he means that they don't score goals. Its a fairly simple concept that you're apparently reading far too much into. The forwards have low scoring numbers because they can't score not because of the system. Saying its because of the system would be saying that Deboar is deliberately hindering the chance of his team to score which isn't the case |

Correct. In fact, I agree.
However, that is the opposite of what the Journalist said when discussing the forwards. At that time he needed something to fit his argument.
Now it's being flipped around to fit a new argument.
Hopefully that clears everything up.
I can't apologize for "reading into things" though, in my opinion that's a good thing to do. It's a good way for someone to try to learn.
And for the record I said they were the same for "our intents and purposes" as to mean they are not literally the same. I just had to find a way to show that Todd had, in the past, applied them in the same context. |

To be honest I think our owners should be doing all the things pegula is finally doing with the sabres now it might not work quite as we'll in jersey but they need to be creating a hockey Mecca here so future players actually want to play here and what not but no doubt that guy is a troll |

And that's not to say what are owners are doing isn't good because it's great from what I read about building up the city and businesses but I would like to see a lot more poured into the hockey side more scouts stuff like that and I'm not a business man nor do I claim to be one so it might be more complicated then I realize when they project to lose money on this franchise for the next couple years but you guys will get what I am saying |

Kind of a kick to the balls to hear the Islanders sale is for ballpark $548m, when the Devils sold for $320m last year. How's that possible? |

LOL
Edit: also I couldn't care less what the team is worth as long as they ice the best possible team. |

When the Devils were bought by the current owners it came with the debt that JvB was buried under to build the Pru Center. The Isles have been losing a lot of money over recent years but from what I understand Wang still payed his bills. |

Ohhh, interesting. I imagine the Colosseum has been paid off for decades. And they're just paying a rent agreement to Barclay's. Pretty sure the Devils franchise owns the Pru Center, and it will be a while before all the construction costs are paid off.
That'd be my best guess. |

I don't think the Isles even owned the Colosseum, pretty sure they had a lease.
And the construction costs are the main reason JvB had to sell. When things started to go wrong (Kovy fine, missing the playoffs) he had trouble finding the funds to keep paying the creditors. |
