Didn't Jimmy Hayes bail Toronto to go play with his brother in Chicago? I can't remember correctly. Why in the (frank) would somebody NOT sign in Chicago and hold out to go somewhere else. Greed? There's not a team that would be more of a jackpot for a kid to be drafted by than Chicago nowadays.

Not a chance. He's a decent player. Fine for the third line. At times he could fill in on better lines. And when his lines were playing well, he'd feed off that.

On a good team he's a third liner though. He was barely a second line player on the leafs all but one year, in which he was a pretty good second liner. But the Leafs were not a good team.

They're going to be sorely disappointed with him, if he's getting first line minutes.

But then, look at the crap throughout the rest of their lineup. He may look half decent in comparison.

Honestly. Turris is horsecrap.

And they somehow think Macarthur has transformed himself, and Leaf fans know nothing about him.

And to be clear, I don't think Macarthur is terrible. But he's not a first line player. He's not a top 6 player on a good team.

We (everyone with a birth certificate) agrees that Clarkson, Gionta and Bolland have effing awful contracts.

So i'm not sure how you are bolstering your argument about McArthur's contract by evoking those names.

They are all mistakes. Some (hello, David) are bigger mistakes than others.

But let's be clear here: they are all examples of UFA temporary insanity.
