I think it's more the guy standing next to him with the straw in his head. That's Bailey`s real problem. - dcb1
Im getting the impression that no one here thinks bailey is a generational talent. |

Watching a game from the 1978 finals between the Bruins and Canadiens. Mike Milbury is one of the few players wearing a helmet....I`m guessing he was just used to it from the school bus. |

Here's another thing about sports back then (something a little more factual...lol) - Ken Dryden used the money he made playing hockey to help put himself through law school. When he passed the bar, he quit to take a higher paying job as a corporate lawyer. In today's day and age, someone would have paid him $6M a year until he was 40, even if he sucked for the last 3 years of his career...or they`d have bought him out for a fortune. It`s mind boggling to think of how much more money Rick DiPietro was paid in contrast to Dryden. |

Give them the equipment of today and a little time to adjust and I think some of the best from back in the day might hold their own. |

Maybe, but none of them were in the shape the players of today are in, none of them were as athletic as the players of today... yes skill is skill.. a truly skilled player would shine through, he may not be the end all be all he was in the day, I agree he would hold his own.

Let me know when Bailey finds the offensive part of that two way game. - Isles_since_6
Agreed. Hopefully this year. Maybe some competition in line up is exactly what he needs. |

Like Tim Thomas "shape" the year Boston won the cup? Looked like he was moonlighting as a Mall Santa. I wouldnt make that remark around Billy Smith.
I dont think it would be a physicality issue so much as them not being used to the style of play. Def a faster pace in the modern game. Yankee broadcasters always remarking how many complete games Whitey Ford pitched and how teams had a shorter pitching rotation, back in the day. But all sports evolve and raise the bar over time. Its still a tough call to say either way fo sure. |

Funny, all we heard was how MacD was asked to do too much here and how on the Flyers he'd be able to assume his natural role as a 5-6 d-man. They sure didn't pay him like a bottom-pair d-man, and now, if this article in any way reflects the mood and thought process there, they are going to ask him to fill a much bigger role than a bottom-pair d-man. |
