ok. but what did we give up?
- jimbro83

Nothing, other than money. And even for the Rangers, money is worth something...

But that doesn't negate everything else that I've posted. I would want nothing to do with this kid from an organizational standpoint.

And before people point to me being hurt that he turned away the Hawks. Couldn't be farther form the truth - they have multiple better prospects than Hayes would have been. I'm just simply blown away by the excitement about a kid with so many warts.

Eriksson's bounce back ability, or lack there of, is going to be huge for the Bruins this season.

If he does bounce back, Boston's top six will be fine, but if he doesn't, Iginla's loss is going to be felt in the lineup.

Why are Rangers fans always the most sensitive people, ever?

Said the same thing when they thought Boston was an option, yikes, remove tampons please.

#1980#1981#1982#1983 impressive to say the least

Know what else was impressive from 1980-1983?: Atari

Honestly that isn't even a retort but more of a fact. Atari was awesome back then.

not a lot of money either, correct me if im wrong, but he is entitled to only a 2 year ELC, so 900k base salary with bonuses.

It absolutely BLOWS MY MIND that fans of the Rangers are actually excited that they are getting a kid who:

- Has had previous issues with the law in the past

- A kid who didn't want to sign a contract because the Hawks said they weren't going to hand him a spot in the opening day lineup

No one is curious why a supposed "elite" prospect wouldn't want to play on a consistent Stanley Cup contending team, with the best talent in the league? Most kids would be fawning at the opportunity to play with the Hawks. Oh wait.. we know why he isn't. He'd actually have to EARN a spot.

A kid who was brought up with things being given to him, who thinks things should be handed to him. Yup. That's the type of player I want on my team!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out kid...

- CaptainBlackhawk

So you're telling me you wouldn't be excited if your team picked up a first round pick (who has further developed) FOR NOTHING...

I know you're butt hurt by this all, but if this "BLOWS YOUR MIND" you don't know much about hockey...

The second he didn't sign with the Flyers I thought he was overrated and a bust.

As I explained, I'm far from "butt hurt". When this entire charade started, I've been hoping they WOULD NOT sign Hayes for every single reason I listed above.

The Hawks have multiple better prospects than Hayes. I didn't want a cancer/me first player who has had multiple run ins with the law.

It costs money but it also is an organizational philosophy and who you want/don't want in you organization.

Like I stated: It's hard to be "butt hurt" when a player simply didn't want to earn a roster spot (and wanted to be handed one), nor play on the most talented roster in the sport, someone who blew off prospect camp, and someone who only started to play better at BC when paired with an elite prospect.

Also: Don't you think the Hawks have an idea of how good this kid is?

The same team that had the worst or 2nd worst attendance record in the NHL the past few years, who all of a sudden sells out towards the end of the lockout season when you guys were doing good, and then fizzled back to the basement of the attendance rankings after your season failed by January last year has really loyal fans?
